Quote MessageScotland were outclassed. Flattered by 2-1. If it was 4-1 or 5-1 would they have been hard done by? No. Russia are a very good side and they proved it. But they don't need Scotland to be gifting them possession. But they'll take it and they did take it. It was schoolboy stuff. They were spooked.
FT: Scotland 1-2 Russia
That was Scotland's first home defeat in a competitive fixture since then world champions Germany turned us over 3-2 in September 2015.
How about away form? A win in Moscow looks unlikely after tonight. After all, in Euro qualifiers, Scotland have only beaten Lichtenstein, Gibraltar and San Marino on the road since that famous James McFadden goal in Paris way back in 2007.

Roberto Martinez's side, ranked number one in the world, beat San Marino 4-0 this evening to keep up their 100% record and they are a lot better than Russia.
Scotland lost 3-1 in Brussels in June and 4-0 in a Hampden friendly this time last year.
After that, it's a trip to Moscow in October.
Take six points from those two and we have an outside chance... Nurse!

Quote MessageI could name every player in the team for giving the ball away under very little pressure. They have had a number of chances but a lot of it is down to us giving them the ball.
Scotland 1-2 Russia
The crowd are doing their best to lift Scotland as we enter four minutes of stoppage time.
Scotland 1-2 Russia
Oh dear, here come Russia on the counter-attack and it's four against two. The final shot from Erokhin is poor though and Charlie Mulgrew is able to hack it clear on the line behind goalkeeper David Marshall.
Scotland 1-2 Russia
Another shot from Callum McGregor is blocked after Matt Phillips can't quite reach a fumble from the keeper. Can Scotland somehow sneak a draw?
Scotland 1-2 Russia
A defensive header drops for Callum McGregor on the edge of the penalty area but it just won't sit for the Celtic midfielder and his shot is charged down by two men in white.

Quote MessageRussia have taken their foot off the gas. They're sitting back a little bit and they're trying to see it through. They think they've got it won.
Scotland 1-2 Russia
A push from Scotland now as the hosts make inroads in the Russia half for the first time in what seems an absolute age.

Quote MessageYou have to say that if we get anything out of this game we've definitely dodged a bullet. Or four or five bullets. Because Russia have ripped us apart. On another night it could have been embarrassing.
Scotland 1-2 Russia
Just to rub it in a bit more, the Press Association are now listing Russia's second goal as a Stephen O'Donnell own goal.
The Kilmarnock full-back was sliding in through the back of Yuri Zhirkov at the back post.
Scotland 1-2 Russia
Lovely footwork from Yuri Zhirkov, aged 36, and then he lets fly with a powerful, angled shot. Again, David Marshall needs to make a full-length diving save.
