    HT: Scotland 1-1 Russia

    Scotland need to get more out of wingers Ryan Fraser and James Forrest after the interval. Both men have been pretty quiet since Fraser set up the early goal with an excellent cross.

    There have been too many aimless balls up the park.

    It started so well, with John McGinn's early goal but Scotland dropped deeper and deeper in defence as the first half wore on and Russia captain Artem Dzyuba snaffled up the first chance to fall his way.

    Has it been coming? It probably has because we've been defending really deep and they got a little bit of luck and now have an equaliser.

    It's been all Russia for the last 10 minutes or so and now the visitors are level as the ball cannons off the shins of Andy Robertson and falls for Artem Dzyuba, who has time to turn and shoot from 10 yards.

    We've got the lead but Russia are not going to take that lying down. Our shape has been good and the Scottish defence looks really calm. They just have to keep that going.

    Ryan Fraser swings a free kick in from the right. Liam Cooper steps over the low delivery and it bounces up for Charlie Mulgrew, who reacts well to steer a header on target but it's straight at the keeper.

    More cheers from the Tartan Army as a free kick from Golovin thumps into the defensive wall. David Marshall then does well to paw away a dangerous cross from the left as the Russians press for a way back.

    It's been a good start from Scotland. It has taken me a little bit by surprise just how many men Steve Clarke has going forward. But I'm not surprised we're now going to try and make it very difficult for Russia.

    I think McBurnie has been excellent. Physically, he's been a real problem for the Russian defence. He's putting them under pressure all the time.

    Good hold-up play from Oli McBurnie allows James Forrest to gallop into the penalty area from the right but the Celtic winger takes a touch too many and is crowded out.
