Almost a year to the day since last season's quarter-finals, the result is almost exactly the same, with holders Celtic, Rangers and Hearts taking three of the places.

Instead of Aberdeen this time, Hibs complete the semi-final line-up.

Hearts will this time face Rangers instead of the Ibrox side's city rivals, with Celtic taking on Hibs.

Celtic's progress to the League Cup semi-final has been hailed from afar - Albania to be exact.

  4. Helander 'could possibly have gone off'published at 22:39 British Summer Time 25 September 2019

    FT: Livingston 0-1 Rangers

Two refeeeing decisions that will undoubtedly be analysed and scrutinised by both sets of fans were Filip Helander's last-man challenge on Lyndon Dykes and Ricki Lamie's aerial challenge that lead to Joe Aribo's head injury.

However, Rangers assistant manager Gary McAllister believes his side should have perhaps been the only side to go a man down on the night.

Speaking to BT Sports, he said: "Now that I've seen the Helander challenge, it looks as though he's caught the forward. So he could possibly have gone off.

"With the other one, I think Lamie has made a genuinely effort to go and head the ball. He's just naturally elevating his arms and elbows up. I don't think there's a movement towards the head of Joe Aribo. So it was a good decision by the referee."

  5. 'Dykes caused us problems'published at 22:37 British Summer Time 25 September 2019

    FT: Livingston 0-1 Rangers

Rangers assistant manager Gary McAllister didn't shy away from a poor performance and was full of compliments for Livingston after his side's hard-fought 1-0 win.

"Lyndon Dykes caused us problems the whole evening. He's very awkward to play against. Livingston have a style and a system and they stick by it and they're good at it.

"It was not easy. It wasn't pretty on the eye, but we've ground out a result and now we go to Hampden."

Livingston manager Gary Holt doesn't beat around the bush in his verdict on a match that could have quite easily swung in favour of his team.

Speaking to BBC Scotland, he says: "I thought we deserved to win the game. I really do.

"If you take away a sloppy minute of play when people weren't being responsible and doing their job, we dominated the game for large spells. The key decisions went against us."
