  1. 'Disciplined' Thistle coping with 'slow' Celticpublished at 20:43 British Summer Time 25 September 2019

It's been a very disciplined performance from Partick. They've sat back and hoped to force Celtic wide and try and deal with the crosses, which they mostly have done. Celtic at the start were very comfortable and there's a little bit of slackness creeping in. Their play has slowed up a bit. They need to get back to their fast-paced passing, getting it forward. Celtic will need to up their game in the second half

  2. What did I say about deja vu?published at 20:42 British Summer Time 25 September 2019

At the halfway stage, holders Celtic, Rangers and Aberdeen are on their way to filling three of the four semi-final spots for the second year running.

Kilmarnock or Hibs are struggling to make a claim to that final place at Hampden.

  3. 'Changes needed' at Rugby Parkpublished at 20:40 British Summer Time 25 September 2019

    HT: Kilmarnock 0-0 Hibernian

It's been competitive but sadly lacking in the final third. The goalkeepers haven't been worked enough. Both teams will need to look at their benches. Hibs, certainly, with Flo Kamberi and Scott Allan, who offers that little bit of finesse. Kilmarnock have got Rory McKenzie and Liam Millar. Changes need to be made if this game is going to ignite

  4. HALF-TIME Celtic 1-0 Partick Thistlepublished at 20:37 British Summer Time 25 September 2019

Vakoun Issouf Bayo's first Celtic goal separates the holders and their second-tier guests at the interval.

Bayo headed home a Jonny Hayes free-kick to net in the 14th minute and should have doubled his tally from another Hayes delivery later in the half.

Thistle, though, are pressing high in their first game under new boss Ian McCall and have pounced on slack Celtic distribution. Shea Gordon was sent bursting in behind from a poor Olivier Ntcham pass, but his shot drew a comfortable save from Craig Gordon.

The champions aren't home and dry yet.

  5. HALF-TIME Livingston 0-1 Rangerspublished at 20:35 British Summer Time 25 September 2019

Rangers may be ahead at the half-time break but Steven Gerrard probably won’t be too happy with how that first half went for his side.

Although the Glasgow side opened the scoring after just five minutes of play through some unfortunate defending from Nicky Devlin and a deflected shot from Glen Kamara very little besides that has gone Rangers’ way.

An injury to Joe Aribo and bookings for Glen Kamara and Connor Goldson have summed up a clumsy half that could have ended in a red card if the referee had deemed Filip Helander to have brought down Lyndon Dykes as the last man just moments before the break.

  6. HALF-TIME Kilmarnock 0-0 Hibernianpublished at 20:35 British Summer Time 25 September 2019

A first half of few chances in Ayrshire as both sides contest a fairly drab opening 45 minutes.

Kilmarnock have had the better opportunities, with Stephen O'Donnell's early shot tipped wide by Chris Maxwell and Ryan Porteous heading a Stuart Findlay header over his own crossbar.

Hibs have had some decent possession, with Glenn Middleton a dangerous option up the right wing and Stevie Mallan shooting wide from 20 yards but haven't yet been able to apply a killer touch.

  7. HALF-TIME Heart of Midlothian 1-2 Aberdeenpublished at 20:34 British Summer Time 25 September 2019

Craig Levein will be wondering how his Hearts side are losing this one. Two individual errors - one from Christophe Berra and one from Loic Damour - have cost his side.

Sam Cosgrove a very willing beneficiary of the gifts given to him, expertly slotted in both penalties.

Aberdeen lead at the break, but you get the sense there's plenty left in this one.

  8. Lucky Helanderpublished at 20:33 British Summer Time 25 September 2019

    Livingston 0-1 Rangers

Filip Helander is exceptionally lucky after the Rangers defender is deemed to have cleanly slid in to intercept the ball from Livingston forward Lyndon Dykes. At first it looked as though the big Swede made the interception, but replays show that he came through the back of his opposite number to get the ball. Last man too!

  9. CLOSE!published at 20:31 British Summer Time 25 September 2019

    Kilmarnock 0-0 Hibernian

Finally something to shout about in the only goalless quarter-final of the evening.

Stuart Findlay's back-post header is diverted over the bar by Hibs defender Ryan Porteous.

That comes after a good spell of pressure from Kilmarnock with Harvey St Clair causing problems.

Up the other end, Glenn Middleton has been a lively presence on the right flank for Hibs and Stevie Mallan sends a 20-yard shot wide.

  10. CLOSE!published at 20:28 British Summer Time 25 September 2019

    Livingston 0-1 Rangers

The home side have been growing in confidence over the last 10-15 minutes and a chance comes in the form of a shot from Keaghan Jacobs that skids just wide of Allan McGregor's left-hand post.

Partick have been competitive. Kenny Miller is a bit isolated up front, but they've been trying to get close to Celtic and make it as difficult as they can. They've had a couple of half-chances. They're really being encouraged to press and get after Celtic. Olivier Ntcham gave the ball away sloppily and Shea Gordon burst forward and got a shot on target. It's a huge warning sign for Celtic

Wilson is actually going away from goal – incredible decision by Loic Damour. It’s completely self-inflicted. There’s no doubt it’s a penalty

  13. YELLOW CARD - Dykes againpublished at 20:22 British Summer Time 25 September 2019

    Livingston 0-1 Rangers

Lyndon Dykes has picked up a yellow card for a late challenge on Connor Goldson. Livingston (and Rangers) fans may remember that the forward picked up two yellow cards and was sent off in the last clash between these two sides just a few weeks ago.

    Sam Cosgrove (penalty)

Sam Cosgrove can hardly believe his luck. Another penalty against the run of play, this time Loic Damour bringing down James Wilson. Cosgrove puts it bottom right last time. This time, bottom left. Same result. Aberdeen back in the lead.

  15. CLOSE!published at 20:17 British Summer Time 25 September 2019

    Livingston 0-1 Rangers

Steven Gerrard's side come close to doubling their lead with another galavanting run down the right flank from James Tavernier resulting in a cross squared across the edge of the Livingston box, where Scott Arfield hits a curling shot right down the middle of the goalmouth, but goalkeeper Matija Sarkic knocks it over the crossbar.

  16. CLOSE!published at 20:17 British Summer Time 25 September 2019

    Celtic 1-0 Partick Thistle

Vakoun Issouf Bayo has his head in his hands as he squanders a chance to make it 2-0 for Celtic.

The Ivorian, who has already scored the opener, heads over from another Jonny Hayes cross.

    Celtic 1-0 Partick Thistle

Thistle are holding their own and gaining a foothold in the contest after falling behind at Celtic Park.

They send a couple of deliveries into the champions' box before former Celtic striker Kenny Miller squirrels in behind the home defence but is flagged offside
