Lots of head tennis and then Scott Allan slips a lovely wee pass into the path of Glenn Middleton. The on-loan Rangers winger pings in a low cross from the left but it's far too close to Celtic keeper Fraser Forster.

This is a nice touch. Both teams form a guard of honour for Pat Stanton, marking the former Hibs captain and manager's 75th birthday.

As a dashing midfielder with film star looks, Stanton spent 13 years at Easter Road before a career swansong at Celtic, where he moved into a sweeper role and was instrumental in a league and Scottish Cup double in 1977.

'The Quiet Man' was capped 16 times for Scotland.

  5. 'We want to keep the momentum going'published at 12:27 British Summer Time 28 September 2019

    Hibernian v Celtic (12:30)

Celtic boss Neil Lennon tells BBC Radio Scotland, "Our squad is good and healthy at the moment, and we've had a couple of good performances. Not only do you need to rest players, but you need to give players the opportunity to play, because they will be called upon.

"It's exciting times for the players, a great time to be involved with the club. We want to keep the momentum going.

"I've got a lot of good friends here at Easter Road, behind the scenes. I've got a lot of admiration and time for the players here as well.

"It's a nice pressure to have because we're in a great position. When you start a season so well the players start to focus on keeping it going and maintaining. There's not many clubs in Europe who have 100% record. Hibs had a great result during the week, but we're focusing on what we can do. We'll try and capitalise on a bit of lethargy or fatigue from Hibs late in the game."

  6. 'We have to have a go'published at 12:23 British Summer Time 28 September 2019

    Hibernian v Celtic (12:30)

Hibs manager Paul Heckingbottom tells BBC Radio Scotland: "I wanted to change it up, we've got a lot of games at the moment. I wanted to bring Scott Allan back in - he's a good player for us and he's playing against the team he's just come from. Looking back as a player, you always want to face your old team. He would've loved to have played games for Celtic to show them what he could do, but he didn't get the opportunity. The next best thing is to play against them.

"The pressure's always there. I won't be happy until I know what performance we'll get week after week. If you can come out knowing exactly what you'll get, it makes the job easier and you can plan tactics and substitutions off the back of that. We were good in spells midweek, but that's not good enough. We need to do it every week and until we get that, I'll not be happy, satisfied, or trusting in the team I'm putting out.

"Celtic's record speaks for itself. Every trophy in the last three years. We know what we're up against. When we played the Old Firm last season we gave them too much, so we have to have a go. We'll take those chances. You need to manage the game, there'll be times where we get penned in and have to see five or ten minutes out"

  8. Block Brown to slow Celtic down?published at 12:15 British Summer Time 28 September 2019

    Hibernian v Celtic (12:30)

Neil Lennon has been singing the praises of skipper Scott Brown since the season started, with the 34-year-old midfielder in fine form.

During his days as Hibs boss, Lennon usually used one of his attacking players to keep a close eye on Brown and the tactic worked well in disrupting Celtic's rhythm.

Has Paul Heckingbottom been checking out some of those old videos or will he go his own way?

The penalty win against Kilmarnock will give the team a bit of respite from the fans. Unfortunately, the bigger picture shows Hibs don't have the steel to give the big teams a go. Eighteen months ago you'd fancy them to get a result against Celtic. That's not the case anymore.

Celtic captain Scott Brown has been out admiring the lovely looking pitch under the Leith sunshine.

It's a long time ago now when he was haring around everywhere in the colours of the home team.

His £4.4m transfer to Celtic in 2007 remains a record between Scottish clubs.

  11. Allan out to prove a point?published at 12:09 British Summer Time 28 September 2019

Scott Allan has his game face on as he arrives at Easter Road. Will the playmaker have a point to prove after he was benched for the midweek cup visit to Kilmarnock?

The 27-year-old was used sparingly at Celtic after leaving Hibs in 2015, making just two league starts.

The best form of his career has been with Hibs. Can he add to the four goals he's scored already this term?

  13. Will Hibs have a go?published at 11:54 British Summer Time 28 September 2019

    Hibernian v Celtic (12:30)

Under Lennon, Hibs always went toe-to-toe with Celtic - and with some success.

Hibs are unbeaten in their past four home league encounters with the champions (2W, 2D).

However, Paul Heckingbottom seems like an altogether more cautious manager and, given the club's current predicament, the hosts may be focused on keeping things tight after the goalless draw that led to Wednesday's shootout success at Kilmarnock in the League Cup.

This is Celtic boss Neil Lennon's third return trip to Easter Road since he definitely didn't get sacked and definitely didn't quit Hibs back in January.

The first was a comfortable 2-0 win in the Scottish Cup, while the last was a 0-0 visit in April as the champions cruised towards the finish line.

  15. Can Cove's fairytale continue?published at 11:47 British Summer Time 28 September 2019

    Scottish League Two

Cove Rangers' first season in League Two has been sensational. Top of the table after seven games, Paul Hartley's men host fifth-placed Annan.

At the foot of the table, struggling Brechin City could climb off the bottom of the table if they beat Elgin and better Stirling Albion's result.

The big news in the Championship this week came at Firhill with the return of Ian McCall to Partick Thistle.

    Hibernian v Celtic (12:30)

Celtic pitch up at Easter Road in good spirits. The champions have maximum points after six games and a goal difference of +17.

It's a different story for Hibs, who are without a win in the league since the opening weekend and are just one point off the bottom.

In midweek, the visitors crushed Partick Thistle 5-0 to reach the semi-finals of the League Cup, where they will meet today's opponents, who progressed on penalties after a stalemate at Rugby Park. That result stopped the rot but has maybe not quite lifted the current gloom among Hibees fans.

  20. Allan starts for Hibs, settled side for Celticpublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 28 September 2019

    Hibernian v Celtic (12:30)

Hibs are without central defender Ryan Porteous following his extra-time red card against Kilmarnock on Wednesday. That ban also applies to the League Cup semi-final against Celtic on 2 November.

His place goes to Adam Jackson and Scott Allan is reinstated in the place of Daryl Horgan.

Celtic stick with the same starting XI that came from behind to beat Kilmarnock 3-1 last weekend after making a raft of changes for Wednesday's cup tie with Partick Thistle.
