Steven Whittaker's got a very important role to play now. He's not a natural centre-back and it's very much a patchwork back line. If he commits himself as he just has, he'll leave Hibs wide open. He's got to hold his position and cover his own area.

Hibs can't really get a hold of the ball now and Celtic are coming forward in waves. The hosts need to rediscover their earlier passing rhythm or it's going to be a very long afternoon.

  4. Whittaker on for injured Jacksonpublished at 31 mins

    Hibernian 1-1 Celtic

Hibs are forced to make a change as a very groggy Adam Jackson is helped off the park. With no recognised central defender on the bench, Hibs send for Steven Whittaker, the versatile veteran.

A long break in play as Adam Jackson gingerly makes his way back on to his feet after getting a dunt on the head following a challenge with Odsonne Edouard.

There were two quick succession decisions which Hibs feel went against them, so I understand why they're aggrieved. But it's a free kick inside Celtic's half, and within two passes Celtic are in behind. Hibs have got to get back and pick up. The goal shows how important Ryan Christie is for Celtic. It just felt inevitable that Celtic would score. The finish really was top drawer.

Paul Heckingbottom kicked a water bottle which hit the linesman and the fourth official also got involved, and it was on his advice that the manager was sent to the stands.

  8. Hexit - red card for Hibs bosspublished at 12:59 British Summer Time 28 September 2019

    Hibernian 1-1 Celtic

Paul Heckingbottom is banished from the dugout for his angry protestations on the sidelines.

The free kick looked soft - non-existent even, but it was well inside the Celtic half and Hibs had plenty of time to regroup.

  9. goal

GOAL Hibernian 1-1 Celticpublished at 23 mins

    Ryan Christie

Celtic are level as Ryan Christie, hardly a giant, rises virtually unchallenged to head home a dinked cross from Moritz Bauer.

Hibs are not happy at a free-kick award just moments before and home boss Paul Heckingbottom could be in hot water for his reaction.

It's been a really good spell for Celtic. Hibs need to take more responsibility in midfield to stop Ajer strolling forward from his defensive position.

Celtic are beginning to step up the pace and Hibs are being forced deeper, defending across the line of their own penalty box. A deflected strike loops up into the arms of keeper Chris Maxwell.

What a pass from Adam Jackson to start it off. He reverses it into Scott Allan, who then reverses it again to Doidge. Two passes have sliced open the Celtic team. I was thinking Doidge should shoot. He tried to play it across the face of goal, but it's taken a deflection and gone in. The two passes deserve the luck to finish the move off.

GOAL Hibernian 1-0 Celticpublished at 8 mins

    Kristoffer Ajer OG

A fantastic pass out of defence from Adam Jackson is followed by a fantastic pass from Scott Allan and Christian Doidge is in behind the Celtic defence.

The striker's low cross cannons off the ankle of Kristoffer Ajer and creeps in at the near post, with Fraser Forster a bit flat-footed.

A big slice of luck but Hibs will take it...

It looks like Stevie Mallan has started on the right for Hibs. We know he doesn't want to play as an out-and-out winger in the same way as Martin Boyle, but he's up against Bolingoli today. It'll be interesting to see what kind of position he floats into as this one goes on.

Odsonne Edouard drives into the Hibs penalty area without facing much opposition. The Celtic striker's cutback is intercepted by Josh Vela and the home side can hack it clear.
