  8. 'The quality and intensity was there'published at 15:59 British Summer Time 19 October 2019

    FT: Everton 2-0 West Ham

    Everton

Everton manager Marco Silva, speaking to BT Sport: "We are a group, we are a team. The main thing is that we played football. When I see them express themselves like they did this afternoon, that’s the main thing for me. When we play like we did today, the wins will be there.

"The quality and intensity was there from the first minute. It was really good, maybe we didn’t score as many goals as we deserved.

"It's really important for us to score early when you play at home. In our last few games at home we didn’t score too early in games. It’s important for us and important for the crowd. We have to keep calm sometimes and keep the pressure on.

"The performance was really important for me. I expected a reaction because I know the players' quality. We need the results and we need the points to improve our position in the table. At the end of the season, we’ll be smiling for sure."

Gene Mudi: It would be safe to say that Spurs are in REAL crisis if Watford of all teams defeat them in their own backyard.

Chris Baldwin: A big halftime team talk for Pochettino this. That was poor at best. Bayern Munich is one thing. Watford haven’t won a game all season.

"We are going to enjoy today, I am not thinking about next week at the minute. The team need to focus on that positive energy today. We don't want negative energy we need to push forward with and positivity is key."

Spurs booed at half time is well deserved. As a Spurs fan this is just really poor now. Boos I think is all Spurs are going to get today. Time for Pochettino and Levy to leave the club.

Neither of these sides has kept a clean sheet in the Premier League season. Surely we can't be on for a goalless draw here?

Tim Krul has been the busier of the two keepers, but despite some good build-up play at times, neither side has found a clinical edge in attack so far.

  15. 'Everton gave more than 100%'published at 15:54 British Summer Time 19 October 2019

    FT: Everton 2-0 West Ham

    West Ham United

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini: "I am disappointed because I think we had a good performance. The position of Everton showed how much they needed the points. I remember the last game we played here the teams were in a similar position.

"Today they just gave more than we did, they gave more than 100%, we did not. I spoke with the players after the game, they know my thoughts. Goodison Park is always a difficult place to come but but there were parts, I was not completely happy with the performance."

    FT: Everton 2-0 West Ham

    Everton

Everton manager Marco Silva, speaking to Match of the Day: "The quality we showed this afternoon was the main thing for me. There were some very good individual performances in our team, but as a collective we did very well too.

"In our last games we probably didn’t achieve what we deserved, to be honest. But the players know we have full confidence in them. It was a must-win game for us and we did that.

"I know what I’m doing, I have full confidence in the staff and full confidence in my players as well. Of course it’s better when you win games, but I was always calm.

"I wasn’t nervous. This afternoon we created so many chances. The game was always under control. Gylfi’s goal was the best way to finish the football match. It was a very good moment for him – he needed that moment.”
