The weather's mild enough here that you'd have trouble convincing anyone that it's mid-October and the clocks go back next weekend.

The odd darkish cloud drifts by overhead, but the sun's out - the floodlights are on, but barely required. The only man appearing to feel the cold is Norwich boss Daniel Farke, who's pacing the technical area in a long black coat, hands in pockets.

It's the hosts who have made the more confident of the starts.

They're knocking it about nicely but the Canaries have kept their shape so far.

  4. Can Canaries take heart from Cherries?published at 14:57 British Summer Time 19 October 2019

    Bournemouth v Norwich (15:00 BST)

Norwich's early-season struggles - primarily in defence and since promotion to the Premier League were laid bare this week by their former striker Chris Sutton, analysing the Canaries for BBC Radio 5 Live - and describing them as "sitting ducks".

But City can perhaps take heart from today's opponents Bournemouth. Four years ago this weekend, the Cherries were Premier League new boys, taking a 5-1 hiding at Manchester City and going on to win only two of their first 14 top-flight games.

With a catalogue of serious injuries to the likes of Callum Wilson and Tyrone Mings, and pundits demanding he change to a more direct or defensive style, Eddie Howe stuck to his guns, rallied his injury-hit troops and kept the Cherries up. Norwich will hope Daniel Farke can do the same.

Visiting fans today will notice a familiar name as they walk round towards their turnstiles in the East Stand. Striker Ted MacDougall scored 51 league goals in 112 appearances for Norwich and was the old First Division's top scorer in 1975-76 - but was even more prolific in Bournemouth colours (119 in 198 games across two spells). The South Stand here was named after him in 2013.

  8. The name's Bond...published at 14:52 British Summer Time 19 October 2019

    Bournemouth v Norwich (15:00 BST)

    BBC Sport at Vitality Stadium

Despite not meeting in league football between 1960 and 2014, Bournemouth and Norwich have plenty of shared history in the intervening time - primarily the Bond family, who feature heavily in today's match programme.

John Bond managed the Cherries between 1970 and 1973, modernising the club to the extent of changing its name from Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic to the continental-sounding AFC Bournemouth, and introducing the red and black striped shirts - an AC Milan homage - that are now synonymous with the Dorset club. He took Bournemouth to the brink of the second tier for the first time.

But there was acrimony when he left to manage Norwich - and soon recruited half-a-dozen of Bournemouth's best players, leaving a bitter taste among many of the fans he left behind. He died in 2012, aged 79.

His son Kevin Bond, then an apprentice at Dean Court, followed his father to Norwich - and later played for and managed Bournemouth himself, handing Eddie Howe his first coaching job.

  9. 'Potential high-scoring encounter'published at 14:51 British Summer Time 19 October 2019

    Bournemouth v Norwich (15:00 BST)

    John Roder
    Match of the Day commentator

We often hear managers say they are looking for a reaction from their team after a heavy defeat.

That's certainly what Daniel Farke will be hoping for after Norwich's 5-1 loss at home to Aston Villa.

Callum Wilson, Josh King and Teemu Pukki will be anticipating multiple chances to come their way, as Bournemouth and Norwich are the only Premier League sides not to record a clean sheet so far this season.

This has the potential to be an exciting high-scoring encounter.

    Bournemouth v Norwich (15:00 BST)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

I said a few weeks ago that it is proving far too easy to score against Norwich, something that we saw again when Villa put five past them last time out.

Bournemouth have had defensive problems of their own in previous years, and they are still pretty open now, but things are far worse for the Canaries.

    Prediction: 2-0

Canaries boss Daniel Farke makes two changes to the side which were thumped 5-1 by Aston Villa two weeks ago, as Tim Krul and Alex Tettey return.

Tettey captains the side while there are also starts for Todd Cantwell, Jamal Lewis and Kenny McLean, who have all overcame injuries which forced them to withdraw from international duty.

Ben Godfrey starts in the heart of defence after recovering from a hernia operation. Tom Trybull and Onel Hernandez are fit again, and named among the substitutes.

Norwich XI: Krul; Aarons, Amadou, Godfrey, Lewis; Leitner, McLean, Buendia, Tettey, Cantwell; Pukki.

Subs: McGovern, Byram, Hernandez, Stiepermann, Trybull, Drmic, Srbeny.
