He plays it to the feet of Miguel Almiron's whose cross to Joelinton is just about headed clear by Matt Doherty.

Good defending by Doherty.

Newcastle are shading possession but where's the creativity? Not even a sniff of a threat from Steve Bruce's side to date.

Diogo Jota has been body checked there, that was a complete wipe out. I don't think he meant it but it was not a good challenge from Federico Fernandez.

It was a bit reckless but in football people come together. It was a really bad hit on the side of the head but I do not think it's worthy of a card.

He did not look capable of carrying on but he is back on which means he must have passed the concussion tests.

After two or three minutes of treatment, Jota climbs to his feet but he doesn't look in the best of shape. The game continues. It's flat and VERY boring.

Any chance of any goalmouth action, guys?

Federico Fernandez leaves his calling card on Diogo Jota. That's a strong challenge by the Argentine on the Wolves man who is completely taken out and needs treatment.

Not sure about that, Beansy. Newcastle need to get a move on - they've been slow and ponderous.

Not the greatest of starts, it has to be said. At least Wolves have an excuse - they didn't arrive back from Slovakia until the early hours of Friday.

Newcastle are almost killing the game with how they are playing. They are playing so deep. When they are defending they go backwards and when they try to attack they are forcing the ball up and it is not working yet.

Jamaal Lascelles has had an eventful start. The Newcastle skipper has already been lectured by referee Kevin Friend - not sure why - and he's just gone down clutching his leg. Fortunately for the home side, he's back on his feet and able to continue.

First corner Wolves after good work by Jonny Otto. It's punched away by Martin Dubravka but Adama Traore quickly whips the ball back into the penalty area. Promising by the visitors.

This game already looks a slow-burner. Very little goalmouth action with the game bogged down in midfield.

Steve Bruce wants more goals but Newcastle look so short of confidence in front of goal.

Sean Longstaff pumps a free-kick into the danger area - Wolves can't clear - but Miguel Almiron's finish leaves a lot to be desired.

Bright start by Wolves who are fizzing the ball around with confidence. Diogo Jota already looks menacing but it's Joao Moutinho who gets the first shot away - it's straight at Martin Dubravka.

Gates are down at St James' Park and it's not entirely down to fans boycotting the club in protest against Mike Ashley. Entertainment is in short supply. Four goals in four games, only two of those scored by Newcastle.

A relegation battle is looming and spirits are low. Victory over Manchester United brought hope but that carries less weight than it once did, and Wolves are likely to provide a much sterner test.

They've gone seven games unbeaten, including away wins at Manchester City and against Slovan Bratislava on Thursday.

Travel fatigue might be their biggest enemy - and Newcastle's chief ally.
