    Southampton 0-0 Leicester

You sense Southampton will get opportunities to catch Leicester out if the Foxes persist with passing out from the back in these conditions.

Caglar Soyuncu's pass to Ricardo Pereira does not quite have the weight to reach its target but the visitors keep their cool to rescue the situation before the Saints can capitalise.

    Southampton 0-0 Leicester

The surface really isn't helping Leicester as they attempt to build from the back.

It's not looking like a night for slick passing, and the rain is helping Southampton keep Leicester well away from Angus Gunn's goal so far.

    Southampton 0-0 Leicester

James Maddison does well to win the ball back deep in his own half as Southampton attempt to force an early chance.

There's plenty of surface water on the pitch which is preventing the ball travelling anywhere quickly...

The key for Leicester tonight is how often Tielemans and Maddison can get into space, how much they can show their quality and release the likes of Vardy and Barnes ahead of them.

For Southampton, it's can they get the service to Ings and get up into the wide areas. Ings is their main goal threat and Southampton need to supply him so he can score goals.

The players are just heading out onto the pitch, where they are met by wind and heavy rain on the south coast.

    Grim conditions.

We'll be up and running in a couple of minutes.

  8. Remembering 'The Boss'published at 19:55 British Summer Time 25 October 2019

    Southampton v Leicester (20:00 BST)

The travelling Leicester support will once again pay tribute to late chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha this evening, ahead of the first anniversary of his death this Sunday.

In a nice touch from Southampton, the back page of the match programme at St Mary's also features an image of 'The Boss'.

  10. 'Foxes have become a scalp'published at 19:48 British Summer Time 25 October 2019

    Southampton v Leicester (20:00 BST)

    Mark Lawrenson
Ex-Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 live

BBC football expert Mark Lawrenson is taking on Arnold Schwarzenegger in his Premier League predictions this week. You can see them in full here...

Southampton's draw with Wolves last time out was a decent result for them on the back of three straight defeats.

That point will have given Saints a lift but they are still in trouble, just above the relegation zone, and they still worry me. They look short of goals for a start.

Leicester are still flying high at the other end of the table, after fighting back to beat Burnley.

Leicester's problem in these sort of games - away, and against a team much lower than them - is that they have become a scalp.

Going to St Mary's and trying to win the game is a very different task to going to somewhere like Anfield, when people are expecting them to be beaten. It is going to be interesting to see how Brendan Rodgers' side deal with it.

Less than 15 minutes to go until another weekend of Premier League action gets under way.

Another weekend of highs, lows, and what if's - and that's just fantasy football.

I make it about time we heard from Lawro on what to expect from this one.

    Southampton v Leicester (20:00 BST)

Here's what Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl had to say this week on the prospect of facing Leicester: "Leicester have fantastic players in the team and it is not a coincidence for me that they are that high in the table.

"We know that it is a tough opponent. For us it is important to bring a really committed performance, otherwise it will be difficult."

Leicester are attacking games they expect to win. I expect them to go on in this manner.

When you looked at who would break into the top six at the start of the season, Leicester had to be in your talking. They have taken the bull by the horns and look like they will continue to do so.

Their squad depth will help them maintain the push.

    Tony Pulis

Leicester have got a good shape, the system suits the players. I dont think Soiuthanpton have found a system the manager is happy with.

Leicester have some good players, Maddison has that quality on the ball, Vardy has hit form. Everything points to a Leicester win... so I'm going for Southampton.

Brendan Rodgers speaking to Sky Sports on Jamie Vardy: "His strength is playing on the last line and threatening in behind.

"He's not a Roberto Firmino or some of these guys who can go underneath and link up the game, that's not his strength.

"But what he does do is create pockets of space for the other players to come in to.

"He's so switched on in the game. You talk the tactical game in football and he never switches the engine off and wants to score goals."

  19. A tale of two strikers?published at 19:31 British Summer Time 25 October 2019

    Southampton v Leicester (20:00 BST)

Two of the Premier League's in-form strikers are on show this evening, with Danny Ings and Jamie Vardy looking to extend their recent goalscoring streaks.

Southampton's Danny Ings has three goals in his last three league games, and five in his last four across all competitions.

Leicester's Jamie Vardy, meanwhile, has scored more Premier League goals than any other player since Brendan Rodgers' arrival in March - and also boasts three in his last three in the league.

But who can have the biggest influence on the outcome of this one?

  20. 'Slim pickings at home for Saints'published at 19:27 British Summer Time 25 October 2019

    Southampton v Leicester (20:00 BST)

    Mark Scott
    Match of the Day commentator

It has been slim pickings at home for Southampton this season, with the Saints taking just one point on their own patch so far, while they've also conceded seven times in their last two matches at St Mary's.

They did end their losing run last weekend though, with Danny Ings delivering once again with his fifth goal in four games.

The form of Leicester's leading man up front has been a major reason behind the Foxes' fine start to the campaign - and Jamie Vardy is also the Premier League's top scorer since Brendan Rodgers' first game in charge, averaging more than a goal per game against teams outside the established top six in that time.
