More from Watford manager Quique Sanchez Flores: "We have positives, we are able to do good things but this does not happen for a full match.

"It’s tough for the players but we need to go for the positive moments and make them more. Some bits we can take as positives. When we concede so early it is hard for us but we kept in it."

On Ben Foster: "Foster was very good. He is a very good goalkeeper but we are not happy with the chances we gave away."

On the VAR penalty decision: "I am not sure. I trust the decision of the referees."

Watford

Quique Sanchez Flores, speaking to Sky Sports: "In the last minute Kepa had to do an amazing save, we’re fighting against very good teams but our idea of football remains the same.

"The match was very tough but we had an opportunity to draw it. When we are positive on the pitch we are a good team and we can compete very well.

"I trust the players we have, some are coming back from injuries and others are tired, but right now it is about experience and managing our next challenges."

Chelsea

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard: "We played really well, our midfield was outstanding, but we just cannot have that sloppy bit near the end.

"It was a terrible 10 minutes considering how the game had gone. We need to be more clinical, we got a bit sloppy.

"We rely on our goalkeeper for those moments at the end of the game and he did what we needed him to do. I am happy with how the players are playing. It’s great to watch."

On the VAR decision: "The longer it went on the more I expected it to be overturned. I was surprised. We got to see it on the big screen and it certainly was not a clear and obvious decision.

"A little bit of contact is such a grey area. We are in a funny place at the minute with it."

Newcastle United

Newcastle manager Steve Bruce, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "As I have said many times all I want is the club to go forward. I am delighted with having been given the opportunity to be the manager when other people have turned that down.

"Hopefully with some other good results I might get popular with some of our fans as Rafa Benitez was."

Watford

Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster, speaking to Match of the Day: "If I score at the end that’s me retiring. Fair play to Kepa - that was some save.

"Chelsea are a very good team with a lot of good energetic players, it is good for them and for England. But we can hold our head up high for hanging on until the end. We could have nicked something."

Aston Villa

Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings, speaking to Sky Sports: "We knew the level of opposition we were up against but we believed we had enough to cause them problems.

"I feel quite proud about what we have done, it is difficult right now but in a couple of days we’ll look at the positives from this match.

"Liverpool showed a killer instinct and a ruthless mentality until the end and we did not."

Chelsea

Chelsea goalscorer Christian Pulisic, speaking on Match of the Day: "I feel confident but the hard work does not stop now for me. It is so much fun to play with these guys up front who help me so much.

On conceding a late goal: "We had opportunities to put the game away but we gave a penalty and they made it close at the end. The penalty seemed to come from nowhere and that’s why we needed to score more goals."

Sheffield United

Sheffield United goalscorer John Lundstram, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "I try to get into the box all the time and thankfully I was in the right place at the right times today.

"At half-time the message from the gaffer was that we need to keep the foot on the gas and we could have got a couple goals more."

Jon Spurling: Failure to prioritise defence/defensive midfield over everything in the summer is haunting Arsenal.

Craig Smith: I don’t want Arsenal to become a team where we sack our manager on a frequent basis. But the issues at the moment, in my opinion, are caused by Emery. Either we sack him now or give him until the end of the season. Nothing in between.

Chelsea

Chelsea goalscorer Christian Pulisic, speaking to Sky Sports: "Those last five or 10 minutes felt like a really long time. In the second half we felt like we were dominating. We needed to get a third to put the game away but then we gave away a soft penalty in my opinion."

On scoring: "I want to make an impact for the team and I am enjoying it a lot. I want to prove every week that I deserve to be in the starting line-up."

Watford

Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster, speaking to Sky Sports: "Just to get the draw would have been a fair result I think. We are a little disappointed. We are so better than that. They were a very good team. They are full of young energetic players.

"Our manager told us before the game that they are like kids in the playground and if you leave the gates open you will let them run free. I feel like we did that at times which is disappointing.We have been unlucky - we know a win is just round the corner."

On nearly scoring: "That’s the closest I have ever come to scoring. I can't believe he saved it but that's why they spend so much money on a goalkeeper like Kepa."

Jared Maobe: Frank Lampard is really costing Chelsea sometimes by making wrong subs. It's Mount who is supposed to be substituted not Pulisic for heavens sake. We are struggling at the of a match we were controlling all the way through.

Bob Moss: Watford got a big decision very soon. Accept they are going down and plan for a promotion push or spend big and try and stay in the league?

Arsenal

Arsenal boss Unai Emery: "The result is not good. We were winning 1-0, we needed to score the second goal because in one moment they can score and they did that.

"We cannot be proud of our result. After the first goal we wanted to manage the result but we didn't do that. We created some chances, they created some chances but they scored - that is the difference. The match was equal but at 1-0 at every moment they can score and they did that.

On Mesut Ozil: "He played well and worked well. It is one step for him and important for us.

On when Granit Xhaka could return: "I don't know exactly."

Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, speaking to Sky Sports: "We played incredible from the first minute until the end. We created an incredible amount of chances. We were pressured but we did it. We kept our cool and we were patient. We know we will always get chances, it was important that we stayed calm.

"I told them at half-time to keep going for it, to keep attacking. It is the only way. There was no space, it was almost impossible but we did it and that is why I am delighted."

Liverpool

Liverpool match winner Sadio Mane, speaking to Match of the Day: "It was a tough game for us, in the second half we tried to win the game as a team which was not easy.

'I think we have a great team and a great group, our mentality was fantastic. We kept believing despite being 1-0 down. We tried and tried and in the end we scored twice'

Richard Cumiskey: I want to come up with reasons for this Watford team to stay up but I just can't. No wins from 11 games in the league, not scoring many and if it wasn't for Foster today they could be 6 or 7 down. Really concerning.
