Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says his side can now focus on the Premier League after qualifying for the Champions League last 16 with a group match to spare.

Ilkay Gundogan scored as City drew 1-1 at home against Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk in midweek, a result that ensured Guardiola's team would finish top of Group C.

"The target was to qualify and we have done it," said the Spaniard, who won the Champions League twice when in charge of Barcelona.

"The group stage is always tricky but now we have one competition already done - we play the last game qualified as first in the group - so we can focus on the Premier League until we arrive in the cups."

So here's how things look at the top where it's all rosy.

Second-placed Leicester City are at home to struggling Everton tomorrow, meaning Manchester City could move into second place overnight.

Fifth-placed Wolves and sixth-placed Sheffield United take each other on tomorrow too - a game which could benefit Manchester United, down in ninth.

Down at the bottom, it's not been very fun for Southampton and Watford. The two, who go head-to-head at 17:30 GMT, have just three league wins between them.

    Ouch.

West Ham have a tough game at Stamford Bridge today too and 18th-placed Norwich host Arsenal tomorrow - in Freddie Ljungberg's first game in charge after the sacking of Unai Emery.

It's a different environment at St James' than the one that greeted me on the opening weekend of the campaign - for starters, I'm not having to wipe rainwater from the cornea of my eyes. It was an awful day for all concerned with Newcastle United.

Several gathered for protests against the owner, many fans stayed away and Steve Bruce suffered defeat in his first match in charge.I can't see any protests, it's sunny and Bruce's Magpies are doing... well... OK.

However, 52K-plus crowds remain a thing of the past for now. Some of those clouds have moved from Tyneside to East Manchester. City desperately need to win today and assert some of their familiar authority - a repeat of that loss here in January is unthinkable for the club.

  4. Coming up today...published at 11:01 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

Six games in the Premier League.

Defending champions Manchester City are up first as they travel to 14th-placed Newcastle. Title rivals and leaders Liverpool are at home to Brighton a few hours later, hoping to respond to their disappointing 1-1 draw with Napoli in the Champions League.

It's tight in the middle of the table and Burnley host Crystal Palace, who could go level on points with Sean Dyche's side with a win.

There's a London derby between Chelsea and West Ham, while Jose Mourinho's Tottenham are at home to Bournemouth, who are just a point below them in the table.

In the late kick-off, Southampton welcome Watford in a crucial match-up between the league's bottom sides. A 'six-pointer' some might say!

Rivals Liverpool could only muster a draw at home to Napoli on Wednesday so will want all three points today...
