Coming out of that tunnel, Jose Mourinho would not have known what he was going to get. He looked a bit nervous but he will be happy with the reception he got.

What is Klopp playing at. Leaving Salah and Firmino out of the starting 11 is bad enough at any time in the league. Leaving them out of the Merseyside derby is inexplicable.

If that front 3 was good enough for Barcelona it should be good enough tonight.

  6. Firmino and Salah on the benchpublished at 19:30 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2019

    Liverpool v Everton (20:15 GMT)

Jurgen Klopp has gone risky! He makes five changes to the Liverpool side who beat Brighton on the weekend.

Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino only make the bench. Captain Jordan Henderson and fellow midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are also dropped, as is the suspended Alisson.

Adrian comes into the side in goal. Xherdan Shaqiri, who has played just 11 minutes in the Premier League this season, also starts.

Adam Lallana, James Milner and Divock Origi are the other three players to come into the side.

Liverpool XI: Adrian, Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Lovren, Robertson, Milner, Lallana, Wijnaldum, Shaqiri, Origi, Mane

Everton boss Marco Silva has named the same side that lost to Leicester.

Defender Leighton Baines and winger Theo Walcott are on the bench, alongside summer signing Moise Kean.

Everton XI: Pickford, Holgate, Keane, Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin, Sigurdsson, Digne, Mina, Iwobi, Sidibe, Davies

Man Utd v Tottenham (19:30 GMT)

    Chris Waddle

When Ole Gunnar Solskjaer first took over, they pressed very high and played at a tempo that many teams couldn't live with.

But since he has taken the job full-time, he has lots of pace in the attack and he has played on the counter attack.

  14. 'We want to put in a good performance'published at 19:25 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2019

    Leicester v Watford (19:30 GMT)

    Watford

Watford interim manager Hayden Mullins: "We have been setting up quite a bit, loads to do but it has been very good. It has taken a lot of preparation. We want to come here and put in a good performance.

"Troy Deeney I think is ready to come in onto the pitch. What Troy brings - as well as being a good player - is experience and a leadership for us.

"We are trying to give as many positive messages as we can. It has only been a couple of days. It has been tough to get as much of the information we wanted to get in.

"This is a great group of players, very confident at the moment. Any game in the Premier League is tough. We have a gameplan here, hopefully we can get a positive rresult."

  15. Champions League or Championship?published at 19:25 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2019

    Leicester v Watford (19:30 GMT)

Two clubs heading in very different directions. Leicester City rubbing shoulders with the Premier League elite; Champions League football beckons next season. Watford marooned in the relegation zone; the Championship is calling them next season.

On Sunday, they sacked their second head coach of the campaign in the desperate hope that another change will provide the solution. Finding any answers at Leicester seems unlikely.

The Foxes are flying. Sunday's stoppage-time win over Everton was their sixth in a row. Some argue they could pose the biggest threat to Liverpool's title bid, and many Leicester fans consider this side to be better than Claudio Ranieri's champions of 2016.

  16. Goals, goals, goals?published at 19:25 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2019

    Southampton v Norwich (19:30 GMT)

Southampton and Norwich have each taken four points from their last two Premier League matches, but both remain in the bottom three.

The Saints are actually three points better off than they were at this stage last year, when Ralph Hasenhuttl was appointed manager. However, only Watford, who they defeated on Saturday , have won fewer matches this season.

Norwich have conceded 30 goals in the league, the second worst defensive record - behind Southampton.

So could this be a match with plenty of goals? One thing is certain: both teams are in desperate need of points, and to take them off a relegation rival would be immensely satisfying.

  18. 'Lampard doesn't have good Villa memories'published at 19:23 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2019

Chelsea v Aston Villa (19:30 GMT)

    Simon Brotherton
    MOTD commentator

There'll be quite a welcome at Stamford Bridge for John Terry, but Frank Lampard doesn't have happy memories of recent encounters with Villa. His Derby side lost to them three times last season, including in the play-off final at Wembley.

Dean Smith's team may have been a little disappointed not to claim all three points at Old Trafford on Sunday, given how well they played in the first half in particular.

The performance and the point should provide a boost as they head south to Stamford Bridge. It has not been a happy trip for them in recent years, Chelsea winning the last four meetings by an aggregate score of 15-1.
