    Watford 2-0 Man Utd

Manchester United are about to make a change with Mason Greenwood getting ready to come on.

The home fans are loving a rare moment to enjoy themselves and they goad David de Gea with ironic cheers as he receives a pass from a team-mate. He holds possession as Troy Deeney closes him down but manages to clear.

Khan Karn: De Gea hasn't been at his best for a while now. Why not sell him to Real Madrid and give Dean Henderson a chance next season whilst investing with that money

Thomas: Watford not lead at home all season, enter United. The defending from set piece has been a disaster for 3 seasons now, De Gea has been a joke in 2019.

Straight down the middle by Troy Deeney and Watford on course for a big win!

What a horrible three minutes for Manchester United, who need to find a big performance from somewhere now.

Really? It's almost like he does not see it. What a mistake from David De Gea. He tries to gather the ball, there is no pace on it, it slips straight through the middle of his gloves and hits him on the nose on the way through. It's an absolute clanger. It's why there was such an eerie silence when the ball went in.

  5. PENALTY TO WATFORDpublished at 15:08 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2019

    Watford 1-0 Man Utd

Ismaila Sarr is brought down inside the box by Aaron Wan-Bissaka and it could be about to get worse for Manchester United, or a chance for redemption for David de Gea.

That goal has sparked things into life as Manchester United attempt to offer an immediate response but Scott McTominay heads straight at the keeper.

    Ismaila Sarr

Oh my word! A horrible error by David de Gea!

I've just watched four replays and it gets worse every time!

Will Hughes sends a free kick into the area and the ball falls to Ismaila Sarr. The height is awkward and the hit is not the cleanest but the ball somehow goes through De Gea's hands, hits his face and lands in the back of the goal.

De Gea slumps to the ground and puts his face in the grass. That was a howler and he knows it.

Fred hits a ball down the left for Marcus Rashford but it's too long and goes out of play.

Adrian Mariappa then slices a clearance out of play.

Not an encouraging start to the second half.

Beyond me why people want Poch - just remind me what he won? Come on Ole and the Reds - keep the faith!

Why is it that united only play with tempo against the bigger sides? You could argue about the space with lesser teams sitting deep. But it's like 3-4 touches and pass backwards. Surely solskjaer cannot be instructing his side to play with such a slow build up from the off? It's the same every week.

Thomas Knights: Another dreadful first half from United, the fact is Ole has no idea how to set up a team that needs to break down a stubborn defence, his tactics are purely to play on the break. Looking more and more like the Van Gaal United every week.

Yet again , this game needs a change get lingard off and pogba on for the second half

Not exactly the first time that Manchester United have struggled against teams in the bottom half of the table this term.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side lost to Crystal Palace, West Ham and Bournemouth and drew against Southampton, Aston Villa and Everton.

This has been pretty much par for the course.

  14. 'Man Utd have not created enough'published at 14:52 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2019

    Watford 0-0 Man Utd

    Matt Upson

There is not too much between them at the break. You feel that Watford have come out and applied pressure to Manchester United when they are in possession. Watford's centre-backs are staying strong. When Manchester United have had joys and broken the lines, the quality of passes from McTominay has been good but they have not created enough. Watford have done OK.

What is it about the early kick-offs and the weekend before Christmas?

That 45 minutes is giving Everton versus Arsenal a run for its money in the most boring halves of football stakes.

Aleksandar Todorov: I'd have Mason Greenwood and even Juan Mata starting over Lingard at the moment. Clearly he's not in it and needs a long period on the bench or to rest/reflect.

Things have got to change at Utd, you dont know what kind of performance you will see each match. It's becoming very boring now. Surely now it's time to offload Ole and bring in Poch.

Troy Deeney has comeback from injury. He does not look the fittest I have ever seen him, or the most mobile but he can still have an impact on this game. His flick ons and his awareness of other players arriving is going to be key for Watford.

Again Watford put together a nice little spell of one-touch passing as the ball is worked out wide to Ismaila Sarr. He crosses for Troy Deeney but the Watford forward is beaten to the ball by his marker.
