GOAL - Man City 1-0 Sheff Utdpublished at 19:09 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    Sergio Agueroooooo.

But first, over to you VAR.

    Better from Muhamed Besic!

Lys Mousset once again times his run off Eric Garcia brilliantly.

He plays the ball back for Besic whose strike comes off the pole that holds up the netting.

    What's that actually called?

  5. 'The VAR referee is miles away'published at 19:04 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    Liverpool 1-0 Wolves

    Wolves

Having said he does not want to talk about VAR and refereeing decision, Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo could not help himself...

"Anfield is amazing but they were celebrating a non-goal. It doesn't make sense. The referee should sustain that decision. In the end you convinced me to talk about it!" he told Sky Sports.

"The VAR referee is miles away taking decisions on a lot of things happening here. Who is inside the game? Who feels the intensity and the flow? The referee here."

  6. Postpublished at 47 mins

    Man City 0-0 Sheff Utd

Kevin de Bruyne joins the 'Mile High and Wide Club' with a shot from 20 yards that doesn't trouble anybody in the stadium.

  7. KICK-OFFpublished at 19:02 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    Man City 0-0 Sheff Utd

The Blades players come out early for a warm-up - it didn't look like Lys Mousset was too keen on the star-jumps.

    We are back under way.

  8. We will improve - Artetapublished at 18:58 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    Arsenal 1-2 Chelsea

    Arsenal

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta: "It was very cruel the way we lost it, in the first half saw a lot of positives and saw what we are trying to implement. But the way we conceded was disappointing.

"It was clear why it was disappointing, I don't need to say any more.

"Our reaction was right, we were doing the right things, it is hard to dominate all periods of the game against this team. We started to defend too deep and our energy levels are in a different place to Chelsea's.

"We need to sustain those periods for longer periods in the game and against top sides. Individual errors cost you games but I can't fault the effort, commitment and for putting in place what we practised.

"The reception, openness and the will the players are showing in every training session and meeting has been top drawer. It will improve."

"I'm grateful for how the fans reacted to the team and I think we are building that connection back to them again. Of course the result was disappointing and doesn't help. It was very special and I felt excitement at the start, but when the kick off goes I just transfer myself.

  10. 'What is it an armpit or a toe?'published at 18:56 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    Liverpool 1-0 Wolves

    Wolves

More from Wolves skipper Conor Coady on the involvement of VAR: "It is horrible for me, it is tough to take.

"A lot of people say it has come to the right decision but what is it an armpit or a toe?

"It is confusing, I spoke to Anthony Taylor a lot today but he gave no clarification of what's going on.

"It is so tough to take, it has happened twice to us in the last two games against probably the best two sides in the world.

"In the second half we controlled game and nullified Liverpool to hardly anything but it is so disappointing that we are stood here talking about VAR rather than the game and the way Wolves played."

  11. 'I don't want to talk about VAR!'published at 18:53 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    Liverpool 1-0 Wolves

    Wolves

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo, speaking to BBC Match Of The Day: "It was a tough game. First half Liverpool was strong. We stayed in the game, stayed organised and always the danger with the quality. In the second half we had good spells and created a lot of chances.

"We finished strongly. I am very proud of the players of the way we are doing things. it is a tough schedule and you can notice the game goes by the final minutes require a lot of energy. So let's go again."

On VAR decisions: "I am sorry. I apologise. I don't want to talk about. I don't want to talk about it."

Was Nuno about to burst into Rod Stewart?

  12. 'VAR is affecting the game'published at 18:52 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    FT: Liverpool 1-0 Wolves

    Wolves

Wolves skipper Conor Coady has pulled no punches in his assessment of VAR...

"We feel massively hard done by. I can't get my head around it. It is ridiculous.

"For me it is not working. Some people are saying it gets the right decision but we're the players on the pitch and it doesn't feel right to me.

"Anthony Taylor is a great fella to speak to but I ask a question and I don't get an answer.

"We thought Van Dijk handballed it, but the referee tells me Van Dijk is too far away. He played the pass.

"VAR is affecting the game, you can hear the fans singing about it. No-one has asked us about it.

"It is still confusing, I can't get my head around it, you don't get answers on the pitch."

  13. 'We still need to keep working hard'published at 18:50 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    Liverpool

Liverpool matchwinner Sadio Mane, speaking to Sky Sports: "To be honest I thought I saw the ball from the beginning so knew it was the shoulder so I wasn't panicked I was sure it was a goal. Sometimes you are lucky, sometimes you are unlucky but it is part of football."

On using last season's frustration of blowing a big lead to their advantage this season: "I think the frustration from last season is behind us.

"We know how to deal with this kind of situation. But this situation is a new situation, we are top of the table at the moment but not end of the season.

"We will still keep working hard to try to win games."

  14. 'Hopefully we can keep going and enjoy the ride'published at 18:48 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    FT: Liverpool 1-0 Wolves

    Liverpool

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk, speaking to Sky Sports: "Wolves are a fantastic side who play good football and you have to give them credit because it was going to be difficult. Today was going to be the same.

"We want to keep continuing what we are doing and we will see where we are at the end of the road where were can be. We feel we can improve but cannot complain about where are. 2019 was promising and hopefully we can keep it going and enjoy the ride."

On a possible handball in the build-up to Liverpool's goal: "I need to see it back. I can't remember it. I heard from you guys about handball. I thought it was complaints about the handball for Adam Lallana. The game is over. What can we do? The goal stood."
