Simon Carlton: This is the problem when you use computers to analyse and decide. They calculate to the nnnnth degree. Unfortunately there is no room for a ref to go. The poor officials are getting so much undeserved stick. Not fair on them.

Paul Drodge: I thought that there might be a few contentious decisions still under VAR e.g. penalties, but what I didn't expect was lots of perfectly good goals being disallowed.

Jago Davies: As a rugby fan, watching football fall apart over VAR is actually quite upsetting to see. They should use it like they do in rugby - let the officials on the pitch make the calls & review video if needed - not let VAR run the game. I feel sorry for all football fans.

Meanwhile at the Etihad Stadium, the Manchester City mascot is dancing in front of a stand - well, it has to perk up the arriving home fans somehow.

Their match against Sheffield United gets under way at 18:00 GMT

Wolves have started this half as well as Liverpool started the first half. They have used what happened in the first period as motivation.

Mohamed Salah plays the ball right to Roberto Firmino, who cross grazes a few heads.

TAA's take a corner from the right is met by Georginio Wijnaldum whose header on goal is thwarted by Max Kilman.

The Reds win another corner but it's wasted.

Max Kilman makes a great tackle to stop Mohamed Salah in full flow.

He's had a great match so far.

Although this match might be remembered for VAR-ious reasons.

Oluyemi Banjoko: Offside rules says, 'if in doubt, give it to the attacker' There is no way a human eye would have spotted that. If we have to draw perpendicular lines to rule out legitimate goals, it is better we let robots referee matches.

Shuvam Sinha: Never imagined I'd say this, but cricket has become more watchable than this o-VAR-run game.

Vieira151: A little bit annoyed at the Wolves goal being disallowed. Great use of VAR for Mane's goal, but then followed by a ridiculous decision. How the Wolves player got any advantage with his toe being offside I'll never know. Show be 1-1.

David Ellis: Let’s just stop football all together. What’s the point. Give Liverpool the league, Leicester Wolves & City top four , Spurs and Chelsea Europa League and knock it on the head. VAR has sucked the life out of everything.

Nick: There should be something similar to the Umpires call and soft signals like in Cricket, for VAR. Not all offside decisions can be black and white.

Philip Backhouse: VAR is going to cause riots.

  13. Arteta will be one of the world's best coach - David Luizpublished at 17:32 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    Arsenal 1-2 Chelsea

    Arsenal

More from David Luiz on new Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta: "For me he will be one of the best coaches in the world.

"I am lucky to have have had many good coaches in my career, he is intelligent, he is clever and I think he will be one of the best.

"But it is part of our job to help him do that. People have doubts but I trust in his philosophy and the way he sees football.

"He knows football. When you know football it is much easier to explain and understand the head of the players on the pitch. It is not easy for him in the middle of the season, he didn't choose the players, but he will do his best. This amazing club deserves better.

"That's why we could see Arsenal dominate in the first half with amazing football and quality. We should score a second goal and then it would be a different game. But congratulations to Chelsea. Frank has come in and they're doing what he wants them to do."

  14. 'We have to learn quickly'published at 17:30 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    Arsenal 1-2 Chelsea

    Arsenal

Arsenal defender David Luiz, speaking to Sky Sports: "I think the first half we were the best team on the pitch, the second half they were better, but we tried to do everything.

"We have to learn quickly, we are not in the best position in the table. It has not been a good year for us but it is still possible to improve and learn.

"Mikel Arteta is trying to impose his philosophy on us as soon as possible, we have players with talent, we have players who will be top players in the future and they're trying to learn quickly.

"But it is up to us get some points now because we need them."

    So that was eventful.

Wolves fans will feel hard done by and rightly so. Two marginals calls. One was not quite handball, one was just offside.

Both by inches. But that's what VAR works on these days.

He was definitely offside. Wolves are right to feel aggrieved. He was off. They were, however, very unlucky with the Adam Lallana decision. It's incredibly rough on Wolves - they have been hard done by.

Wolves fans were singing a song with a word that's er, not pleasant, on how they felt towards VAR during their goal celebrations.

I'm sure the same applies now it has ruled that goal out!

Nuni Espirito Santo has a swig of water on the touchline and shakes his head.

I have to cancel the Neto puns.

In the build up to the goal, the VAR squad calculated that a two shoelaces' width of Jonny's boot was offside.

I'm trying not to look at Santo's face.
