A hopeful roar from the home fans as the fourth official's board shows five minutes of time added on.

Robin: A lot of people like a rate Anthony Martial but I would not hesitate trading him for Jadon Sancho. Lingard and Pereira also haven’t done enough tonight either.

Jesse Mutua: Nemanja Matic is a disaster in waiting. Jesse Lingard offers nothing.

Mike Sizzy: Why always Lingard? What does Ole see in him?

Andy: Kovac, Howe, Pocettino, Benitez, I'll take any of them at West Ham, but please, NOT Moyes.

Stuie Neale: Not shocked about Pellegrini at all, Moyes probably in?

Arvind: If West Ham appoint Moyes, they might as well voluntarily request FA to relegate them

Ben Knowles: For all the criticism Solskjaer gets, he's doing no worse than any other manager since Fergie. The difference is he's getting us playing exciting football again. When we got results under Mourinho, people moaned about style. Now we have style, people moan about results.

A Burnley attack breaks down and Manchester United break quickly. Dan James superbly puts Anthony Martial in on goal but Nick Pope gets off his line and forces Martial to turn backwards. He opts to pass to Jesse Lingard but the midfielder cannot get a shot off and Burnley survive the scare.

  11. 'Benitez will be expensive for Hammers'published at 21:25 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Rob Green
Former West Ham and England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Rafael Benitez? He will be expensive. Unai Emery, is an obvious shout. I imagine West Ham will have irons in the fire as you would expect every modern day football club to have.

Is it a fair decision? I think so, yes. He has been there a while, and as talking about shaping the team and having a say in the signings. For one reason or another it's not worked. Now the momentum needs to change at a club like West Ham where if it starts going wrong it can go horribly wrong and become a really hard place to play your home games.

You need that crowd. They are a wonderful crowd when they are on your side but when they are not you need proper people who can stand up and be counted and sometimes that can be too much for players. You look at as an owner, see he has been there for a few transfer windows, and think 'enough is enough' and I think when you compare it to the Watford managers he can have no complaint.

Nick Rodely: For all the inconsistency Manchester United have shown this season, we're right behind Chelsea in fourth, in the knockout stages of the Europa League and have a League Cup semi-final to look forward to. Could be better, but could be much worse.

What a fantastic save. He's watched it all the way, and showed a strong hand. Bardsley probably thought he had scored when he hit that. Burnley are starting to threaten now.

  19. YELLOW CARDpublished at 70 mins

    Burnley 0-1 Man Utd

Burnley put the Manchester United defence under a rare bit of pressure with a couple of corners but ultimately can't make them count.

Charlie Taylor is then booked for a late challenge on Dan James, who has taken his fair share of whacks in this game.

  20. Postpublished at 68 mins

    Burnley 0-1 Man Utd

Burnley are awarded a free kick as Chris Wood is fouled by Victor Lindelof and that draws the biggest cheer of the night so far from the home fans.

The second biggest cheer is for Burnley's first shot on target of the game as Phil Bardsley's drives a decent strike at goal from the free kick but David de Gea gets a strong hand to push it behind.

    Better!
