I think the danger that's come Rangers' way has been self-inflicted. I don't think Porto have caused them too much stress.

It's a great chance and Tavernier's usually got such good technique as well. I don't think he took a great touch, but it's really good play. The full backs look like they might get a lot of joy tonight.

    Porto 0-0 Rangers

Rangers skipper James Tavernier finds himself in a lot of room at the edge of the Porto penalty area as the ball is switched from the left but the full-back's shot is wild, swerving high into the seats behind the goal.

Porto's Alex Telles is being afforded lots of space on the left wing, often 15m from a red shirt. Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack is playing further in-field, risking a two-on-one on James Tavernier at right-back. It's a pattern now, suggesting Steven Gerrard deems it an acceptable risk.

Corona looks like a real threat. We've spoke about Telles' delivery from the other side but Corona looks like he has some engine on him. He's been up and down the line constantly so far, plus he's defended well

Slow, slow, slow, quick from Porto as the home side knock it about languidly then suddenly burst forward as Corona swings in a peach of a cross from the right. Ze Luis gets his head on it but can only steer the ball wide from a promising position. An early warning for Rangers...

  17. 'Rangers fans creating quite a din'published at 18:02 British Summer Time 24 October 2019

    Porto 0-0 Rangers

    Keir Murray
    BBC Scotland in Portugal

The chat among the Portuguese journalists is that they expect Rangers to be physical, combative in midfield but ultimately short of the class to beat Porto on their own patch.

The Rangers fans are packed into one half of the top tier. They have been creating quite a din in the old town down by the river, clearly enjoying the city in the past two days. The locals seem less enthused by the fixture - the home stands are no more than a quarter full.

  18. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Porto 0-0 Rangers

The first corner of the evening goes the way of the hosts after a run from full-back Telles. Connor Goldson heads clear and Ryan Kent is off and running deep into Porto territory. The winger just runs out of steam near the home penalty box, with a defender stepping across him to clear.

  19. Is counter-attacking the answer for Rangers?published at 17:59 British Summer Time 24 October 2019

To counter-attack effectively you need speed, and that's why Barker is in the starting line-up. He's very direct, and with Kent as well it gives Rangers that speed in transition. I don't think it's outwith the realms of possibility that Rangers get a result tonight.

Brandon Barker is wide on the right for now. Both Rangers winger are probably more comfortable on the left and I'm sure there will be a bit of switching to and fro
