    Newcastle 0-2 Leicester

Another great strike from James Maddison, left footed and plenty of fizz but this one is a bit too close to Martin Dubravka who hauls it in.

  2. Postpublished at 16:13 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2020

    Newcastle 0-2 Leicester

That's four injuries for Newcastle in 46 minutes which is some attrition rate - that's presuming that Jonjo Shelvey was injured. He must have been.

    Too much action/not enough recovery/rotation?

  3. 'Wolves unrecognisable'published at 16:12 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2020

    Watford 2-0 Wolves

    Dion Dublin
Former Man Utd striker on BBC Final Score

Abdoulaye Doucoure's shot takes a deflection off Conor Coady, who is trying to stay strong but it has gone just past the goalkeeper. You have to say Watford have deserved it. They have got forward and created chances in this second half. Wolves, though, are unrecognisable from the team we have seen this season.

  4. Postpublished at 16:11 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2020

    Newcastle 0-2 Leicester

Ayoze Perez is fouled just on the edge of the area, inches away from being a penalty..

  5. All round to Abdoulaye's tonight...published at 16:10 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2020

    Watford 2-0 Wolves

Abdoulaye Doucoure has become the first Watford player to score a Premier League goal on their birthday, and the first to do so on New Year's Day for any club in the competition.

  6. 'I don't see how that isn't a penalty'published at 16:10 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2020

    Southampton 1-0 Tottenham

    Andy Reid
Ex-Nottingham Forest and Tottenham midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

Maybe I just don't the the rules anymore. Alderweireld's hand is above his head and the ball has hit his hand. I know it came at pace but his hand is in a unnatural position.

    I don't see how that isn't a penalty.

  7. Newcastle down to 10published at 16:10 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2020

    Newcastle 0-2 Leicester

That's that - Fabian Schar wants to carry on but he just can't. No point making things worse.

    Newcastle 0-2 Leicester

Schar can hardly move. Hes just signalled to the bench that this is madness and Steve Bruce waves him off.

    'This is pointless,' he says.

  9. goal

GOAL - Watford 2-0 Wolvespublished at 16:08 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2020

    Abdoulaye Doucoure (50 mins)

Scored one, made one. Watford double their lead at the start of the second half.

Gerard Deulofeu squeezes a pass out to Abdoulaye Doucoure, who takes a touch and his shot deflects into the back off the net off Conor Coady's attempted challenge.

What a job Nigel Pearson is doing.

  10. Schar back onpublished at 16:08 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2020

    Newcastle 0-2 Leicester

Fabian Schar has limped back on. Not sure this is wise...

  11. VAR

Video Assistant Referee Checkpublished at 16:08 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2020

    Southampton 1-0 Tottenham

    Ryan Bertrand cross - yes.

    Toby Alderweireld handball - yes.

Arm in the air away from his body - yes.

    VAR check - yes.

Everybody in the whole world says penalty - yes.

    Penalty awarded - NO!

  12. Newcastle down to 10published at 16:07 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2020

    Newcastle 0-2 Leicester

Newcastle will have to play the whole second half with 10 men, it looks that way anyway. They are going to try and patch Fabian Schar up but he's off getting treatment.

If Jonjo Shelvey wasn't injured then that half-time change would be super odd. Must have been an injury.

  13. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 16:07 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2020

    Southampton 1-0 Tottenham

    Has to be??

It has clearly stuck Toby Alderweireld on the arm from Ryan Bertrand's cross.

  14. ouch!

Postpublished at 16:05 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2020

    Newcastle 0-2 Leicester

STRAIGHT from kick-off Fabian Schar has gone down in pain. Steve Bruce can't believe it. There was nobody near him either. Hamstring...

  16. CLOSE!published at 16:05 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2020

    Southampton 1-0 Tottenham

ANOTHER chance for Southampton, this one right at the start of the second half.

Cedric Soares curls in a cross from the right, the wayward Nathan Redmond side-foots a volle over from 15 yards out.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:04 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2020

    Newcastle 0-2 Leicester

Is that another injury? Newcastle have replaced captain Jonjo Shelvey at half time with Sean Longstaff. No more changes left for the hosts.

  18. KICK-OFFpublished at 16:04 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2020

    Off we go again.

Stoney: Another abysmal 45 minutes from Spurs. Mourinho is a spent force. We look worse under him than Pochettino and I didn’t think that was possible.

Tufael Siddique: A lot of praise for Steve Bruce's start at NUFC so far this season. However, expect a huge 2nd half decline which will again highlight the immense job Rafa did.

  20. 'Injuries don't look good'published at 15:59 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2020

    Burnley 1-2 Aston Villa

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith to BT Sport: "It certainly was a response from last week, in the first half we were excellent, moved the ball really well in a new system for us. We probably should've been 3-0 up at half-time but knew they would come at us after.

"We are talking about VAR too much. I've seen the still picture, someone must've better eyes than me. It's tough to see it chalked off. I thought there was a foul on Tyrone Mings for their goal but VAR didn't even check that.

"Both knee injuries for Wesley and Tom Heaton, it doesn't look good for either of them at the moment."
