  1. 'Brighton deserved the point'published at 15:57 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2020

    Brighton 1-1 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "From the first half of the game, we definitely should have had three points. We weren't ruthless enough.

"I thought we got a bit sloppy with the fact the game was so comfortable for us.

"Brighton were stronger in the second half and you have to say they deserve the point.

"I thought N'Golo Kante was fantastic and Toni Rudiger at the back. But as a collective, our quality on the ball was not good enough.

"We deserved Brighton's goal for the way we didn't put our foot down.

"We still have a long way to go."

  2. 'A massive point'published at 15:56 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2020

    Brighton 1-1 Chelsea

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton forward Neal Maupay speaking to BT Sport: "It's a massive point for us, I think we played really well

"It's a busy period for us, we have had a lot of games. Today we fought until the end.

"I think we controlled the whole game, we had more chances to score. But Chelsea are a good team as well, so it wasn't easy."

Any fellow Tottenham fans want to remind me why we sacked Pochettino? Under him this season we leaked goals and had little creativity going forward, under Mourinho we're exactly the same!

Southampton lead at half-time in a home game for just the second time this season (also v Norwich in December).

Wolves find themselves behind at half-time for a 5th successive Premier League match - they have won two of their last three such games despite this, however.

Kyle: Awful play from Newcastle, you cannot afford to make horrendous mistakes like that in your own final third against anyone, but especially not against a quality, ruthless Leicester side. Brilliant finish from Maddison, game over.

Dave Payn: It is a good Leicester side but one that seemingly freezes when coming up against top opposition, this season anyway.

Nearly three! Ayoze Perez causing havoc, he's in down the right and cuts it back, Kelechi Ihenacho should probably score but his side-footer is half blocked and half saved by Martin Dubravka, who claws it away from the goalline.

    Leicester rampant.

Honestly, how Newcastle managed to get 25 points is incredible. We are utter garbage and have been for ages.

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Final Score

It's hard to describe how bad the first goal is. It's a lack of concentration from Newcastle, it's a backpass across the penalty area. Steve Bruce will be furious. He has gone against what you are taught as a school boy! The second is some strike from James Maddison, it's gone right in the top corner. That's not a 'weaker' foot - he's worked hard on that to be two footed. A great goal.
