@Steven Clarke 13.20 - as both a headteacher and a football fan, I resent that comparison. Stockley Park minions don't care enough about the best course of action to be headteachers.

They have got to go in! James Tarkowski slams the ball across the goalmouth and it just hits Jay Rodriguez on the heels. He's only about a yard out but can only spoon it over the top.

Jay Rodriguez hits a shot that is charged down - it hits a hand doesn't it? Well a corner is given and it's not overturned so it seems common sense is applied if it's not an offside call we're looking at...

    Watford v Wolves (15:00 GMT)

It was only a few weeks ago that the outlook for Watford seemed bleak. They seemed certain to be relegated after five seasons in the Premier League, but the arrival of Nigel Pearson has dramatically changed the mood at Vicarage Road.

Wolves' long season, which began back in July in the Europa League, has been enthralling, as well as demanding. Raul Jimenez will presumably return to lead the attack in a fixture in which he scored last season.

The chance to compare Jimenez and Watford's talismanic captain Troy Deeney will be fascinating in a fixture both teams hope will start the New Year in style.

    Southampton v Tottenham (15:00 GMT)

A lot has changed since these two last met in September in what proved to be the final league victory of Mauricio Pochettino's time at Tottenham.

Some felt Ralph Hasenhuttl was more likely than Pochettino to be out of a job first following Southampton's 9-0 annihilation against Leicester, but he has since steered them clear of the relegation zone and reckons that awful evening has actually been the catalyst for their recent upturn in form.

Defensive issues have been an unexpected feature of Jose Mourinho's spell at Spurs, although the club struggled at the back on their travels throughout 2019, having gone a year without an away clean sheet in the league.

    Newcastle v Leicester (15:00 GMT)

    Vicki Sparks
    BBC Radio 5 live commentator

Were it not for the sheer brilliance of Liverpool, Leicester City fans might be heading into a new decade dreaming of the impossible dream once again.

The Foxes are two points better off than at this stage of their title-winning season after all, which is testament to the stellar work Brendan Rodgers is doing.

Steve Bruce can also welcome 2020 with a sense of satisfaction, having confounded his critics to haul Newcastle United to the verge of the top 10.

But consistency remains an issue - and having been humbled by Leicester in September, the hosts will need to find some for 90 minutes if they're to shake off their post-Christmas hangover.

Brighton started with a diamond and Chelsea were the better team, but they flattened the four out and have come back into the game.

But the opportunities have got to be turned into chances and those chances have to be taken.
