The half time whistles are starting to sound up and down the country.

  8. Postpublished at 15:49 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    Sheffield Wednesday 1-2 Cardiff

A double injury blow to Cardiff right before half-time.

First they lose full-back Joe Bennett after a clash of heads with team-mate Junior Hoilett, then moments later Nathaniel Mendez-Laing limps off.

On in their place are Will Vaulks and Sol Bamba.

That delay means we're into SEVEN MINUTES of injury time.

  9. League One latestpublished at 15:49 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

And another big goal at the top of League One - Tyler Walker has just restored Lincoln's lead against Ipswich.

As it stands, remember, Oxford are heading second.

  10. League One latestpublished at 15:47 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    What's happening to Wycombe Wanderers?

They could well be heading for a third successive loss, that's what. Matt Godden has just put Coventry 3-1 up at Adams Park.

Famara Diedhiou, who once scored a penalty for Senegal against Brazil, converts the spot kick with ease to double Bristol City's lead against Luton.

  12. PENALTY TO BRISTOL CITYpublished at 15:45 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    Bristol City 1-0 Luton

Jack Hunt is tripped in the area and the Robins have a penalty at Ashton Gate...

  13. League One latestpublished at 15:44 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

This is a goal Phil Parkinson could've done without - Sunderland, currently the lowest they've ever been in the English Football League, have just conceded a Jon Taylor equaliser for Doncaster.

Elsewhere, MK Dons are 2-0 up against Portsmouth and Accrington are winning against Burton.

  14. Postpublished at 15:44 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    Nottm Forest 0-0 Wigan

I keep trying to give you a quick City Ground update, then more goals go in elsewhere.

Anyway, it's been very even and both sides have had decent spells, but there's been just the one shot on target (from Wigan).

At the moment it's the Latics who are well on top and closest they've come was when Wigan's Antonee Robinson curled a brilliant ball in for Joe Williams, who toe-poked on to the post.

  15. CLOSE!published at 15:41 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    Sheff Wed 1-2 Cardiff

    So nearly 2-2 at Hillsborough.

There are bodies everywhere as Cardiff try to preserve their advantage, and they block several shots.

One gets through from Tom Lees, who is sure he has his second goal of the day, but Leandro Bacuna is on the line to clear.

  16. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 15:39 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    Preston 0-2 Reading

Reading think they have a third goal at Deepdale but it is not to be.

Ovie Ejaria beats Declan Rudd and rattles the post with a strike from 25 yards out, and Lucas Joao taps in from the rebound.

The striker peels away to celebrate - but the offside flag is up.

  17. League One latestpublished at 15:36 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    BoltonImage source, Rex Features

A big, big goal at the bottom!

Thibaud Verlinden has put Bolton Wanderers 1-0 up against Shrewsbury Town, a result that would lift them above Southend United and off the foot of the table for the first time this season.

  18. goal

GOAL: QPR 1-1 Hullpublished at 15:35 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    George Honeyman (32 mins)

QPR don't really keep clean sheets, but this is a poor goalkeeping error which is to blame on this occasion.

Joe Lumley makes a meal of gathering a routine cross from Josh Bowler from the right at his near post and spills the ball.

George Honeyman is on hand to turn in and draw the Tigers level.

  19. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 15:35 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    Swansea 0-0 Barnsley

Barnsley striker Connor Chaplin has been in red-hot form since Gerhard Struber was appointed head coach, scoring seven goals in eight games, and he thought he's just added to the tally.

But sadly for him, he was coming back from an offside position when he smashed the ball home from six yards.

Swansea then should've gone ahead themselves, but for a point-blank save from Barnsley keeper Sami Radlinger and then the crossbar, which denied Sam Surridge's lobbed effort.

  20. Postpublished at 15:35 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    West Brom 0-1 Middlesbrough

A couple of chances to mention in the Midlands, where Marcus Tavernier has hit the West Brom bar with a cross, and Baggies defender Darnell Furlong has guided an effort over the crossbar.
