The hosts have their first bit of pressure in the second half but they can't fashion a shooting opportunity.

Nottingham Forest manager Sabri Lamouchi was upbeat as his side went fourth in the Championship with a tense win over Blackburn.

“We head into the new year in the best way, with three victories in a row and nine points. I cannot ask any more," he said.

“We started the game in a good way, we played well and we created chances. We scored goals – our only mistake was that, at 2-0, we thought that the game would be easy and that we might be able to score three, four or five goals.

“We gave them the chance to come back into the game with a mistake and, after that, we started to panic a little. This league is so tough and mentally we need to be ready. My players, today, they won because they wanted the victory more than the opponent."

By the way, that goal means that Leeds will be staying top of the Championship if things finish as they are.

It also means that West Brom remain without a home clean sheet all season.

West Brom get us back under way at The Hawthorns, 45 minutes from going three points clear of the visitors at the top of the table.

Marcelo Bielsa has made two changes at the break, with Patrick Bamford and Barry Douglas coming on for Eddie Nketiah and Ezgjan Alioski.

QPR manager Mark Warburton was all smiles after his side battered Cardiff 6-1 at Loftus Road.

“The one difference is that we put the ball in the back of the net," he said. "The stats are the same as the other games we played, but today we were far more clinical.

“It’s about creating quality chances and we’ve been doing that – look at the chances we’ve missed. Today we scored.

“We looked a very good team today. We’ve had good days and bad days. It’s about building on this.”

Huddersfield were dragged back into the relegation fight after a 5-2 loss at home to Stoke. Terriers boss Danny Cowley told BBC Radio Leeds:

"It was a car crash of a performance. I didn't think we were very good in the first half, we were miles off the pace physically. We got bullied and beat up by a powerful Stoke team; we couldn't cope with it.

"To be fair to the players it's been a tough Christmas and we've got such a small squad. We've only got about 14 players that we can go to and even some of them were injured."

In the day's early kick-off Millwall went sixth with a 3-1 win against Luton Town having been a goal down at the break. After the match, Lions manager Gary Rowett said:

"At half-time I told them, 'you're a goal down, you've performed poorly, I don't really care about the result, I just want to see a better performance. Be braver.

"We started the second half with a much better intensity, pinned them in and put them under pressure. And when you're in the position Luton are in, if we could get the first goal in the second half, we knew we'd go on and win."

Bristol City boss Lee Johnson was in a positive mood talking to BBC Radio Bristol despite his side's 4-0 loss at home to Brentford:

"We weren't at it for 13 minutes and then we matched them with a man down for a long spell.

"They've got good quality players, do I think we can make up the ground? Of course I do, I think we've got a good side.

"Sometimes people look at it and feel emotional after a game like that and of course I do to, but we have to look at the long game and the big picture and I think we have the ability to put a run together."

With the game at The Hawthorns going the way of the hosts at the break, we'll have a little look around some of the earlier games.

Cardiff City were thumped 6-1 against QPR at Loftus Road. Bluebirds manager Neil Harris told BBC Radio Wales:

"It was hugely disappointing and hugely unexpected, I didn't recognise my team out there defensively.

"First and foremost I need to apologise on behalf of the group, to our fan base that have travelled at an expensive time of the season. They don't deserve that."

Matheus Pereira wins a free-kick a long way out but backs himself and his effort is flying in but for a great save from the Spaniard.

Now West Brom cough up the ball cheaply and the ball is worked to Helder Costa on the right edge of the area but his firm shot is straight at Sam Johnstone in the home goal.

West Brom win the ball on halfway and spring a quick counter-attack that ends with Matheus Pereira seeing his near post effort fielded at the second attempt by Leeds keeper Kiko Casilla.

The pace has just dropped in this since the frantic start.
