    He looks sharp enough as he collects just outside the penalty box, makes room for himself and fires for goal. However, it is straight at Edouard Mendy and the goalkeeper pushes it clear.

    That's the best goal of the night. Absolutely top drawer stuff from Mikey Johnston. He's picked up right where he left off at the start of the season. That right there shows you how big a player he's going to be for Celtic. The quick link with the one-two and the finish. If he keeps himself fit now there's no reason he shouldn't be in the national squad

    Celtic manager Neil Lennon immediately takes off captain Scott Brown now that the three points are safely in the bag.

    A cynic might suggest it is suspicious that the midfielder picked up a booking that rules him out of the meaningless last game against Cluj through suspension before leaving the field.

That’s dangerous, though, because as things stand, they’re winning the group, with Lazio beating Cluj. Fraser Forster has made three really good saves this half and, if Rennes are given any further encouragement, it could end up being a nervier than needed end to a match Celtic have been pretty comfortable in throughout

    It's got to be a penalty, surely. Lewis Morgan is between Mendy and the ball. For Mendy to get to the ball he had to go through the striker. My instinct is it's got to be a penalty

He’s pulled off some heroics in this group so far, most notably in the two matches against Lazio, and it seems he’s at it again. Rennes really ought to have scored there, but the big Englishman refuses to be beaten

    That was an incredible double save from Fraser Forster. Okay the first one is straight at him, but he's right back at it for the second. I think he's been bored so far and just fancied a bit of the action
