Rangers are riding their luck here. That double chance came from the concession of a needless corner. A tremendous save from Allan McGregor brought first gasp before the stadium heaved as the rebound was then directed off the upright.

You do feel Rangers must make the most of the opportunities at the other end when they come their way. An away goal would silence this crowd that seem to be cranking up the volume with every foray forward. They are more than capable, but Feyenoord are fired up for this one, make no mistake.

Feyenoord are applying the pressure and a series of corners end with a superb one-handed save from a Steven Berghuis header and as the ball rises, the top of Leroy Fer's bonce sends it looping against the outside of the post.

Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara is the first to go into the referee's book for holding back Steven Berghuis.

Fortunately for Rangers, he is not one who will miss the next game with a yellow card.

Alfredo Morelos and centre-half Filip Helander are those on that knife edge.

Two penalty claims within two minutes rouses a simmering De Kuip into a frenzy of fury. From this distance, both would have been harsh, but it just offers more encouragement to the home side, who have had the bulk of possession so far.

But Rangers break quickly and, after Ryan Kent sends it wide to Alfredo Morelos, the Colombian striker is wasteful with his shot over the crossbar.

Feyenoord break from their Celtic-style huddle and, as bangers continue to go off inside the stadium, the home side get the game started.

Can Rangers qualify, will all four teams in their group be tied by the end of the night? There are so many possibilities.

A firework display to rival M&D's at Bonfire night is exploding behind the Feyenoord end. It's been going for at least two minutes...

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard speaking to BT Sport: "We need to focus on the 90 minutes and our game plan. We've got confidence and we're in a good place, but it's going to be tough.

"They'll have 50,000 in here on their side and they are a good team with good technical players. But we've rehearsed this; we've had this kind of challenge before and the players have done themselves proud."

In other news, De Kuip is approaching capacity with the heavens still wide open. The driving rain continues to fall heavily, with a spattering of umbrellas up in the crowd while the groundstaff attempt fork what is a pretty pristine surface.
