Game over.
Villa gift Southampton all three points with yet more awful defending. Marvelous Nakamba is everything his name is not as he fails to clear a cross and instead passes straight to Danny Ings, who finishes well.

That was a brilliant chance for James McArthur but Martin Dubravka was quickly out to him.
You take those kind of saves for granted but they are so important.

Jake Bostock: Grealish hasn’t been great today, not getting in the right areas and we’re unable to defend simple corners. Something has to change soon otherwise we’re going back down.
Newcastle 0-0 Crystal Palace
Good football, good save.
Palace work an opening patiently, James McArthur spinning away from his marker from Patrick van Aanholt's through ball, but his low shot is smothered by goalkeeper Martin Dubravka sprinting off his line.
Brighton 0-1 Sheff Utd
How has he missed? David McGoldrick has a golden chance to strengthen United's grip on this game after holding off the challenge from a defender to go through on goal.
He rounds the keeper, has an angle but a good portion of the net to aim at but somehow puts it the wrong side of the post.
He did everything right until the most crucial bit.

Aamer Iqbal: This would be Villa's fourth defeat in a row in the League, following the well deserved point at Old Trafford. What does that say about Man United?
Newcastle 0-0 Crystal Palace
Attack it!!
Jonjo Shelvey's corner into the box is a decent delivery, neither Andy Carroll nor Joelinton make a run towards it and the ball sails away to the other end for a goal kick.

Yes, I think we're on our way back down. We have struggled all season. Really disappointed.

Brighton 0-1 Sheff Utd
Brighton shake things up at the break. Aaron Connolly and Glenn Murray both thrown on, with Leandro Trossard and Pascal Gross taken off.
An improvement in standard required from some of these games.
Away we go for the second half.

Assured and convincing from Sheffield United so far. McBurnie took his goal really well. Blades have this game right where they want in scoreline and pattern of play. Brighton poor. Possession without any penetration.
4-0 at half-time.
That's Dawkes 4-0 Hafez.
He probably deserves it after sitting through the Everton-Arsenal game.
Aston Villa 0-2 Southampton
You do fear for Villa. They are struggling to fashion anything against the side that has conceded the most in the division.
Southampton have demonstrated a ruthlessness and an ability to manage the game that looks beyond the home side.

Jon Evans: If I was Smith I would move Grealish back into midfield, must be clear that the midfield isn't working with him further forward. Drop Wesley for Kodjia if possible as JK's movement offers more. Think those two changes will make a big difference.
Everton 0-0 Arsenal
Arsenal
Arsenal interim manager Freddie Ljungberg: "We dominated possession but we would have liked to get more out of it. We put a lot of young players out because I wanted to reward players who had trained well. I was not happy in the game against Man City - I felt we weren't putting enough effort in.
"We were brave with the ball and we played it out from the back. Of course we want to create more in the last third.
"They did great to get the clean sheet. I don't know how many defenders we have out injured. I was proud of the whole team - we really controlled the game which is what I want from my teams.
"I've learnt a lot and it's been a proud time for me to lead this amazing club. I knew I was interim manager to steady the ship and I feel like I've done that. It's great the club has taken the decision and now we move forward."
On Mikel Arteta: "Mikel knows the club very well - he's been here a long time. We did our badges together so I know him very well as well.
"The club has told me they want me to stay so I will speak to Mikel tomorrow and go from there."
Everton 0-0 Arsenal
Everton
Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford: "We came up against a good side so a point and a clean sheet are the positives for us although we could have created more chances maybe."
On Duncan Ferguson: "Duncan knows the club inside out and he's a legend here. He's brought back the Everton way which is to work hard and graft, and after that's sorted we can play some football."
On Carlo Ancelotti: "It's brilliant to be able to play under him and work with someone who's won so many titles and trophies. He said he's looking forward to working with us and I think we all are too."

I've sat through Everton-Arsenal and now 45 minutes of Newcastle-Crystal Palace.
They do realise they're in the entertainment business don't they?
