It hasn't been a great game so far.

Crystal Palace started slowly but they have got a little bit better as it's gone on.

Wilfried Zaha closest to breaking the deadlock.

Norwich should be 2-0 up. Teemu Pukki is put in on goal with just the keeper to beat, but fails to do so, Rui Patricio getting down well to save his low shot.

It was close. You can see the way Martin Dubravka went across - he was worried.

Luka Milivojevic managed to get it up and over the wall and then down as it whistled past the post. I half expected the net to ripple then.

Southampton are bossing this game. A corner is headed away from goal but only as far as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. Not famed for his goalscoring, the midfielder plays to type and blazes his shot over.

A matter of inches.

This looked in on initial viewing as Luka Milivojevic curls a free-kick from 25 yards out which beats Martin Dubravka's right-hand post.

Not sure the Newcastle goalkeeper was getting to that one.

Sheffield United causing more problems. A corner is swung into the box and met by Oli McBurnie, but his header goes well wide of goal.

Rob Alderman: A few teams making a strong case for a winter break today. Yawn.

This time Andy Carroll does get some service but his header - while running away from goal - loops onto the roof of the net.

That was Palace's best move by some distance - that chance falling to Wilfried Zaha.

That'll be a worry for Newcastle because Palace are starting to feel their way into this one.

He only has Martin Dubravka to beat but side-foots a poor effort straight at the Newcastle goalkeeper.

No sign yet that Brighton are going to get back into this game. Neal Maupey is an isolated figure in attack.

A poor kick from Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita which is controlled superbly on the centre-circle by Jonjo Shelvey.

The Newcastle midfielder spins and lofts an effort from half way which sails narrowly over the crossbar.

Guaita was very concerned, scrambling back towards his goalline.
