Odsonne Edouard was about to be replaced before that goal went in. He was visibly tiring, but he was sharp enough to nudge that one past Chris Maxwell. Hibs had been threatening occasionally on the counter-attack, but that surely puts the game beyond them.

GOAL Celtic 2-0 Hibernianpublished at 66mins

    Odsonne Edouard

The commentator's curse. Just as we were saying Hibs were still in this game, Celtic extend their lead.

Kristoffer Ajer steals possession and finds James Forrest, who picks out Odsonne Edouard makes no mistake this time.

  3. Postpublished at 16:24 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2019

    Celtic 1-0 Hibernian

The half-chances are coming for Hibs and Florian Kamberi wastefully shoots over the crossbar when a through ball to Martin Boyle would have put the winger clear.

This match is still in the melting pot despite Celtic having the better of it so far.

Hibs are getting higher up the pitch. I think getting a cross in to Doidge has given them a bit of confidence

  5. Maxwell is in the housepublished at 16:20 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2019

    Celtic 1-0 Hibernian

Chris Maxwell was a surprise substitute at half-time as Hibs made a change in goal following what looks to have been an injury to Ofir Marciano.

  6. Postpublished at 55mins

    Celtic 1-0 Hibernian

It's Celtic's chance to give away possession and present the opposition with a chance to score.

Christian Doidge sets up Jason Naismith, but the defender slips as he goes to shoot and it flashes well wide.

  7. 'Edouard missed by three feet'published at 16:16 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2019

    Celtic 1-0 Hibernian

    Pat Bonner

Oh my word. Edouard had all the time in the world, but his first touch just bobbled up on him. He went for power and it went over the crossbar by about three feet with the goal wide open. Frimpong showed great composure to wait before making the ball in

  8. Postpublished at 53mins

    Celtic 1-0 Hibernian

A big chance for Celtic as Jeremie Frimpong sets up Odsonne Edouard and the French striker, back in the starting line-up after injury, misses the target.

  9. Postpublished at 52mins

    Celtic 1-0 Hibernian

It's been a long time since Hibs have threatened that it almost takes everyone, including the Celtic defence, by surprise.

Martin Boyle flashes a cross into the penalty box and it just evades the head of Christian Doidge.

  10. Kamberi 'infuriating'published at 16:11 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2019

    Celtic 1-0 Hibernian

    Billy Dodds
    Former Scotland striker on Sportsound

    Quote Message

Kamberi is infuriating. So many times the ball has come to him and he turns into people and it gets taken off him. He's a great goalscorer, he's sharp, but he's a confidence player and if he isn't confident from the start then Hibs are almost a man down sometimes

  11. Postpublished at 49mins

    Celtic 1-0 Hibernian

Not for the first time this afternoon Callum McGregor has a pop at goal only for the Celtic midfielder's effort to slip across the face of goal and wide.

  12. 'Big test for Maxwell'published at 16:07 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2019

Chris Maxwell coming on is a big change, because Marciano did well in the first half. His handling was good and so on. I certainly didn't see him coming off injured, so maybe he's nicked something. It's a big test for Maxwell, who's not the biggest of goalkeepers

  13. Maxwell on for Marcianopublished at 16:05 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2019

    Celtic 1-0 Hibernian

Presumably because of an injury because he had a good first half, Ofir Marciano is replaced in Hibs' goal with Chris Maxwell, the Welshman on loan from Preston North End.

  14. KICK-OFF - Second halfpublished at 16:04 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2019

    Celtic 1-0 Hibernian

It's a big test for Hibs head coach Jack Ross as he has to manufacture a way back into the game against Celtic's Neil Lennon.

And it is even more so after a shock change at half-time - more of that in a moment.

Hibs are good from middle to front. Defensively, they are not very sound and have switched off a few times defensively, giving Celtic some chances and leading to Frimpong scoring

  16. 'Hibs gave up the midfield'published at 15:58 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2019

    HT: Celtic 1-0 Hibernian

    Quote Message

What's interesting for me is how quickly Jack Ross changed the system in the middle of the park. It was obvious Lewis Stevenson couldn't handle Frimpong and that's why he put Martin Boyle out there. But, when they had the diamond in the middle of the pitch, they made a couple of good chances. They obviously gave up on the midfield to leave Brown on the ball, but Doidge doesn't have the legs to drop in and chase. Celtic dominated after and have been a little bit inventive

  17. Celtic deservedly aheadpublished at 15:55 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2019

    HT: Celtic 1-0 Hibernian

Difficult to argue with that scoreline at the interval. Celtic have been peppering Hibs’ goal throughout and, with a bit of fortune, could be further ahead.

Hibs have tried to balance a bit of attacking ingenuity with defensive solidity, but that has come undone with Ryan Porteous’ error and it feels like a long way back now.

  19. HALF-TIME Celtic 1-0 Hibernianpublished at 15:48 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2019

Celtic are half way to restoring their two-point lead over Rangers at the top of the Premiership.

Hibs had early chances through Martin Boyle and Jason Naismith, but Celtic built up the pressure until Jeremie Frimpong broke the deadlock after Ryan Porteous was caught dwelling on the ball by Odsonne Edouard.

There was no chance of a recovery. Porteous took his time and it's a lovely pass from Edouard to Frimpong, who just rolled it under the goalkeeper with a composed finish. We had said Frimpong would score if he kept getting into those positions
