Isn't it time VAR can only be used for appeals by teams? Max once per half, or similar to the approach used in field hockey.

Connor Jennings has a shot blocked just inside the box as Tranmere keep pushing for a way in.

There's a bit of cramp for Domingos Quina, who is treated on the pitch as he takes in a gel but is then replaced by Callum Whelan.

Whelan runs on before his number is shown, is called back by the fourth official, who checks his boots, then he sprints back on. Bizarre!

Michael Hardy: I’m no football expert but VAR should be used when a referee isn’t sure on a call and wants the video referee to assist them, or for a limited number of appeals from the captains, as in tennis. Not for millimetre analysis.

Brighton and Hove Albion 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Chances for both sides. Firstly, Jacob Murphy's low strike from 25 yards for the visitors was comfortably dealt with by Brighton's David Button, then, at the other end, Shane Duffy's header from Pascal Gross' right-wing corner was saved on the goal-line.

But bad news for the Owls as 12-goal top goalscorer Steven Fletcher has been carried off on a stretcher with a knee injury.

The injuries this week have been crazy. Too much football?
