  1. Laying the foundations for an upset?published at 13:42 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2020

Sheffield United v AFC Fylde (14:01 GMT)

    Neil Johnston
    BBC Sport at Bramall Lane

There are 104 places separating Sheffield United and AFC Fylde but the non-league club's biggest goal threat could well be Danny Rowe.

As a schoolboy, Rowe trained alongside Tom Cleverley and Danny Drinkwater at Manchester United before being released at the age of 16.

Soon after leaving United, Rowe began an apprenticeship as a joiner which included three years on a Blackpool building site.

Rowe has bagged more than 100 goals since joining the Coasters in 2014. Will he grab the headlines here?

  4. Struggles against top teamspublished at 13:39 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2020

Crystal Palace v Derby (14:01 GMT)

Crystal Palace are unbeaten in 12 home FA Cup matches against sides from a lower division (W11, D1) since losing 2-1 to Millwall in January 1985.

When playing outside the top flight, Derby have won just one of their last 23 FA Cup matches against top-flight opponents (W1, D6, L16), a 2-1 win at West Brom in January 2017.

  5. To get the Reds in the mood...published at 13:36 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2020

    Liverpool v Everton (16:01 GMT)

Two years to the day since this happened.

Virgil van Dijk. On his debut. Scoring in the 84th minute. Against Everton. In the FA Cup third round. They won 2-1.

He literally could not have started his Anfield career any better could he? He's done alright for the Reds since then too. Will he start this afternoon?

  6. 'Homeless' Coventry flyingpublished at 13:33 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2020

Bristol Rovers v Coventry (14:01 GMT)

Coventry City might be 'homeless' but they are absolutely flying in League One - as well as enjoying a decent FA Cup run.

The Sky Blues - winners in 1987 - are ground-sharing at Birmingham City's St Andrew's for the 2019-20 season after failing to agree a deal to stay at the Ricoh Arena.

Striker Matt Godden has scored back-to-back hat-tricks in games over Christmas, while in Mark Robins they have a boss who knows all about winning the FA Cup.

Robins came on as a late substitute for Manchester United in the 1990 final against Crystal Palace, which ended 3-3 after extra time. United won the replay 1-0.

  8. All-Championship affairpublished at 13:30 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2020

    QPR v Swansea (14:01 GMT)

It's an all-Championship affair at Loftus Road this afternoon, with Swansea travelling to White City for the second time this season having beaten QPR 3-1 in August.

These two sides last met in the FA Cup in the 2001-02 season in the first round, a 4-0 home win for the Swans on that occasion.

The third round isn't a happy hunting ground for QPR, though. They have been eliminated at this stage on 49 occasions - the only side to be eliminated more in this round are Plymouth Argyle (50).

Can they make it through today?

  9. Postpublished at 13:28 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2020

That must be the weirdest kick-off time I've seen. 18.16! All for a fantastic initiative though. All games are kicking off one minute later to encourage the football community to discuss and think about their mental health.

  10. Match factspublished at 13:26 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2020

Gillingham v West Ham (18:16 GMT)

    • This is the first ever FA Cup meeting between Gillingham and West Ham United.
    • West Ham and Gillingham have met four times previously, all in the second tier in 2003-04 and 2004-05 - the Hammers won three of those four matches, losing the other at the Priestfield Stadium in September 2003.
    • Gillingham have reached the FA Cup fourth round just once in their previous 15 seasons, doing so last season - they last did so in consecutive seasons in 2003-04 (five in a row).
    • In each of the past two seasons, the side eliminating West Ham from the FA Cup has been from League One - Wigan in 2017-18 and AFC Wimbledon in 2018-19.

    Middlesbrough v Tottenham (14:01 GMT)

    Pat Nevin
Former Chelsea and Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

The cups are important to Tottenham but they are for Jose Mourinho as well. He's a serial winner and has been for many years and he wants trophies. Tottenham have waited a long, long time for silverware and he's going to go for this, hammer and tongs. I think this is just about the strongest team he can put out there.

Crystal Palace v Derby County (14:01 GMT)

Wayne Rooney is named in Derby County's starting line-up for their tie at Crystal Palace.

The ex-England captain features in an FA Cup game for the first time since January 2018 when he played for Everton in their 2-1 defeat to Liverpool.

Rooney made his Rams debut in a 2-1 win over Barnsley on 2 January and is one of only two survivors from the side which played that fixture along with Curtis Davies as boss Phillip Cocu makes nine changes.
