Two-goal Martin Boyle inspired Hibernian to an Edinburgh derby victory at Tynecastle, while Celtic and Rangers continued their impressive Premiership runs with wins against St Mirren and Kilmarnock, respectively.

Motherwell left it late before completing a thrilling victory at 10-man Ross County, while St Johnstone claimed maximum points at Hamilton Accies and Aberdeen floored Livingston.

Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson said: "I actually thought we very much deserved to win the game. We made hard work of it. I think they scored with their first chance - I think we had dominated the whole of the first half but if you don't take your chances you put yourself in a position where you are scrambling.

"It just shows the character of the players - we scored the winner in the last minute of the game. We could have come here and settled for a 1-1, we didn't - we kept chasing and kept digging in."

Ross County co-manager Stuart Kettlewell said: "Even when we went down to 10 men I thought we carried a real threat going forward. We looked as if we could maybe still expose Motherwell with the players they were obviously committing forward to try and get themselves back into the game. It is a bitter pill to swallow.

"We weren't poor today and we got our noses in front. Lewis Spence's decision to bring down Seedorf through on goal puts us down to 10 men and with a real mountain to climb.

"We've lost a game so we have to make sure we are in the best place we can be both physically and mentally for Sunday."

Aberdeen were without their star striker Sam Cosgrove yet assistant manager Tony Docherty believes his side still showed enough individual quality to beat Livingston.

Speaking to BBC Scotland, he said: "I thought it was a tough game. Livingston are good opponents. They've scored 10 goals in their last three games so we knew it was going to be difficult. I think moments of quality won the game.

"The first goal through Connor McLennan was a great team goal and great move. Then the second goal through young Bruce Anderson was a fantastic finish for a young player that is very, very well. When he got his opportunity he showed how dangerous he can be.

"I'm slightly disappointed we never kept a clean sheet but considering the level of opponent we were playing today another home win means a good three points that allows us to go in to the next game with confidence."

St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright tells BBC Radio Scotland's Sportsound: "I'm really pleased. To come here and give them few opportunities, I thought we looked the more threatening in the game of few chances.

"We knew it was going to be tough and we knew it was going to be a battle. A clean sheet, which is important and if we get it right at the top end of the pitch then we'll move up the table."

Celtic manager Neil Lennon tells BBC Sportsound: "It should have been more comprehensive. Our play at times on the counter-attack was spectacular.

"We had chances to put the game beyond St Mirren and their goalkeeper made some fantastic saves. The overriding emotion is satisfaction with the way we're playing and the wins keep coming."

St Mirren manager Jim Goodwin tells BBC Scotland's Sportsound: "We're disappointed to lose the game. It's the manner of the goals which is probably more frustrating than anything else.

"I felt that we had good possession on both occasions [for Celtic's goals] and gave it away really cheaply in the middle of the field.

"Celtic, with the pace and the quality that they have, hurt us on the break on both occasions. We asked for a reaction at half-time and I think we got that.

"Celtic have probably taken their foot off the gas at 2-0 and felt that it was job done. I felt that, if we could've got a goal in the opening 20 minutes of the second half then it would've given us an opportunity to have a right go at them towards the end..."

Livingston manager Gary Holt believes his side deserved much more than a 2-1 defeat by Aberdeen at Pittodrie today.

Speaking to BBC Scotland, he said: "I'm really frustrated. I think the game panned out as we had executed it. We were good at times, especially in the second half. I thought we dominated the game. But if you give two poor goals away - two that Aberdeen didn't have to work for - you're fighting an uphill battle.

St Johnstone put seven points between them and bottom side Hearts in the Scottish Premiership with a narrow win over Hamilton Academical - their fifth game undefeated on the bounce.

Callum Hendry's introduction in the second-half provided a spark for Tommy Wright's side in a game of few chances.
