Really good finish from Meshino - he gives Lewis no chance. The young boys have been so good, him, Irving, Hickey and Henderson, and they thoroughly deserve to be ahead

    Ryotaro Meshino

Ryotaro Meshino starts the second half the way the ended the first as Hearts' leading light, only this time his pot shot from all of 25 yards curls past goalkeeper Joe Lewis.

A thoroughly deserved lead and a moment of class from the on-loan Manchester City winger.

    Christopher Long

What a solo effort that was!

Christopher Long starts off with his back to goal out at the corner flag. He turns his man, drives into the box on the angle and fizzes a shot across the Accies goal and in off the far post. A bumper Fir Park erupts - with fans still queuing to get in outside.

A flying start for the team in third.

  4. KICK-OFF - Second halfpublished at 45mins

    Heart of Midlothian 0-0 Aberdeen

Aberdeen get the second half under way. Visiting manager Derek McInnes will have no doubt told his side he expects much better of them after a poor opening 45 minutes.

  5. CLOSE!published at 15:03 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    Motherwell 0-0 Hamilton Accies

Motherwell inches from taking the lead inside the first minute. The ball bounces about the Accies box eventually to Liam Polworth at the back post, and his deflected shot flashes across goal before brushing against the far post.

There was a determination from Rangers. Steven Gerrard has gone into the dressing room and asked the question - he's said they need to lay down a marker, that if you get a result we have a serious chance at the title. This is a proper, serious challenge Rangers are laying down to Celtic

  8. Motherwell remember O'Donnellpublished at 14:56 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    Motherwell v Hamilton Academical (15:00)

Motherwell will today remember their late captain Phil O'Donnell, who tragically passed away 12 years ago while playing for the Lanarkshire club against Dundee United.

Phil had two spells with Motherwell, winning the Scottish Cup in 1991, before also playing for Celtic and Sheffield Wednesday.

  9. 'Massive step forward' for Rangerspublished at 14:54 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    FT: Celtic 1-2 Rangers

“Massive step forward, always a difficult place to come," Rangers midfielder Steven Davis tells Sky Sports.

"For 35 minutes in the first half we were excellent. The penalty decision goes against us but Greegsy was excellent, making a great save. From there on in we showed great game management in the second half.

“It wasn’t the best time to concede so it was important we bounced back from that. From there on we were excellent and limited them to a few chances from set pieces. Overall, it’s a big three points for us but it’s important we come back from the winter break and get ready to go again.

“There are going to be twists and turns but we have to show that level in the second half of the season. This was a massive result for us and we’ll take a lot of confidence from it.

“There’s a lot of football to be played but we’re in a good place at this moment in time.”

  10. HALF-TIME Heart of Midlothian 0-0 Aberdeenpublished at 14:52 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

Still no goal from Hearts under new manager Daniel Stendel, but there are some shafts of light enveloping Tynecastle.

Ryotaro Meshino has been their standard bearer and, after surviving Aberdeen's bright start, the on-loan Manchester City winger was denied by Scott McKenna's last-ditch clearance.

Craig Halkett then Oliver Bozanic were denied in quick succession by goalkeeper Joe Lewis.

But, as it stands, Hearts will go into the winter break bottom of the Premiership unless they can find a second-half winner.

    Livingston v Hibernian (15:00)

    Kenny Crawford
BBC Sport Scotland at Tony Macaroni Arena

This is seventh versus fifth and a really interesting meeting between the teams with only three points separating them. Up until the Boxing Day defeat to Aberdeen, Livi had been in fine form, unbeaten in five matches, and they put four past Ross County last time they were here in West Lothian.

Hibs will naturally be on a high after their derby victory over Hearts and Jack Ross says he’ll be happy if he can make it six points from 12 in what has been a tricky run of four games.

  12. Dons lose Vyner to injurypublished at 44mins

    Heart of Midlothian 0-0 Aberdeen

Aberdeen have looked disjointed and now they lose on-loan Bristol City defender Zak Vyner, who goes off with his arm in a sling.

On comes winger Niall McGinn in his place.

  13. Perth Saints moving in right directionpublished at 14:45 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

St Johnstone v Ross County (15:00)

    Tyrone Smith
    BBC Scotland at McDiarmid Park

It has been a fruitful festive season so far for St Johnstone.

Not so long ago they were anchored to the foot of the Premiership, but a four-game unbeaten run – in fact they have lost just one of their last six matches – has lifted Saints seven points clear of the bottom spot.

A win over Ross County today would see Tommy Wright’s side leapfrog the Staggies into eighth and continue their upward progress.

A run of just two wins in their last 13 games, has seen County drop down the table and they are in real danger of getting sucked right in to the battle at the bottom.

The only way for them to avoid that fate is by putting together a run of victories, the Dingwall men will be hoping to get that under way in Perth this afternoon.

  14. GREAT SAVE!published at 37mins

    Heart of Midlothian 0-0 Aberdeen

More promise for Hearts and only a couple of good saves from Joe Lewis prevent the home side going ahead.

An Andy Irving free-kick finds Craig Halkett just inside the six-yard box, but the goalkeeper blocks the centre-half's shot on the turn at point-blank range.

Hearts keep up the pressure and Aaron Hickey's cross is flicked off the head of Oliver Bozanic and Lewis reaches out to turn it wide one-handed.
