  1. CLOSE!published at 16:09 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    St Johnstone 0-0 Ross County

Drey Wright swings a free-kick in from the right, where it finds Jason Kerr at the back post. The central defender knocks it back towards goal with his head, where Matty Kennedy is waiting to head home from a few feet out but enough pressure from his marker forces the ball over the bar.

  2. Postpublished at 16:07 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    St Mirren 1-0 Kilmarnock

A free-kick trickles through a ruck of players and into the path of Kilmarnock striker Osman Sow, who sticks out a left peg and is inches away from connecting. If he could just have got a toe to it, the ball was surely destined for the net.

There wasn't anything creative from Aberdeen when the opposition went down to 10 men. There was a creative spark lacking - of course Sam Cosgrove is not there. Hearts were far better than Aberdeen in the first-half and overall it was a far better performance from them

  4. CLOSE!published at 16:03 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    St Johnstone 0-0 Ross County

The home side come close to opening the scoring just a few minutes into the second half as Ali McCann cuts inside from the left and fires a shot towards the Ross County back post. It bounces wide but not by much.

  6. 'We showed we're big players and a big team' - Gerrardpublished at 16:00 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    Celtic 1-2 Rangers

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard told Sky Sports: “It’s a big win because this club hasn’t had much success here for a long time. You have to think about everything that’s been said in the build up, about Celtic and the run they’re on and the form they’re in. So we’ve come here and faced a really big challenge and a good team, and again we’ve dominated the majority of the game so the players deserve an awful lot of credit.

“If you look at the cup final, we’ve come away in a different mood from what you would normally come away from a cup final in because we were dominant throughout, their goal was offside and we’ve missed a penalty, the big things on the day didn’t go our way but we didn’t feel sorry for ourselves. We tried to learn from it today and we fancied it. We’ve been really strong, the best away form in the league, and we took the game to Celtic. They had a few moments from 35 to 45 where we had to hang in but in the second half we had some really good passages of play.

“We showed great character to bounce back from going 1-1. You can see it’s a clear shirt pull, we have no complaints, but again we didn’t feel sorry for ourselves. We’re trying to create a team here with big players who don’t understand when they’re beaten. We showed that we’re big players and a big team collectively. Hopefully a lot of people will take notice of that performance."

  7. 'There's no panic here' - Lennonpublished at 15:56 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    FT: Celtic 1-2 Rangers

Celtic manager Neil Lennon was giving his thoughts on derby defeat on BBC Sportsound and believes one defeat does not mean they will go into the winter break too downhearted.

"No not really. We've got January coming up, we'll look to add to the squad," he said. "There's no panic here. We've been absolutely sensational basically since August. Mentally we need to be stronger. There's a little bit of inexperience there but psychologically we need to play these games better.

"We're at the same sort of juncture as this time last year. If we get the same response as we did last year we'll be absolutely fine."

  8. FULL-TIME Hearts 1-1 Aberdeenpublished at 15:52 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

Hearts go into the winter break bottom of the Scottish Premiership despite surviving a red card to win their first point under manager Daniel Stendel.

The German looked to be heading for a first victory in five games in charge when Ryotaro Meshino curled in a superb opener four minutes after the break.

But Sean Clare was sent off after hauling back Jon Gallagher and Niall McGinn equalised with the free-kick.

Hearts were rightly booed off from the derby but if they get a point here they'll get a standing ovation. A lot of young boys in the team shown enthusiasm and energy - but a few minutes to go to see it through

  10. HALF-TIME St Mirren 1-0 Kilmarnockpublished at 15:49 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

There's not been too much in the game. Both sides have sent plenty of high balls into the box but it won't fall for any of the strikers.

St Mirren have the lead though after Tony Andreu's through ball was finished off in style by Ilkay Durmus.

  11. HALF-TIME Livingston 0-0 Hibernianpublished at 15:48 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

Another chance goes begging for Livingston and it's that man Steve Lawson that's at the heart of it again. Weak defending from Scott Allan allows the Togo international to take the ball on the right, and he pulls it back to Keaghan Jacobs who drags a shot over the bar.

The half-time whistle goes just shortly after, and following a frantic start without any clear cut chances, the hosts might find themselves hard done by to not be in front.

  12. HALF-TIME Motherwell 1-0 Hamilton Acciespublished at 15:48 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

A whirlwind start at Fir Park sparked this game into life. Some of the bumper home crowd were barely in their seats when Christopher Long's solo effort found the back post, guiding the top-flight's third-placed team into an early lead.

While Stephen Robinson's men finished the half stronger, and could have added to their tally through Long and Liam Polworth, there was a lot of industry and control in the midfield, but Mark Gillespie hasn't really been tested in the home goal.

You do feel the next goal here is crucial, but who will grab it?

  13. HALF-TIME St Johnstone 0-0 Ross Countypublished at 15:47 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

Just one point separates these two sides in the Scottish Premiership table - a stat that became abundantly clear after a first half that showed very little between either team.

Ross County have perhaps showed the most incentive to go ahead, when Ross Stewart’s smart one-two on the edge of the box resulted in a shot fired directly down the goal mouth towards a grateful Zander Clark.

However the towering forward - who has 11 goals to his name this season - was forced off injured eight minutes later and with him went much of County’s desire to go forward.

This match could go either way in the second half. Yet what seems most likely is a draw between two evenly-matched teams.

The intent is still there from Hearts, they're capable of getting forward despite being down to 10 men here. They are troubling Aberdeen

    Livingston 0-0 Hibernian

We’re nearing half-time and there are still some hibs fans filtering into the stadium to take their seats. It’s a really impressive away support from the Leith side, taking up almost half of the stadium.

  16. McKenzie blow for Killiepublished at 15:42 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    St Mirren 1-0 Kilmarnock

Rory McKenzie has pulled a hamstring and is going to have to come off for Kilmarnock. Osman Sow comes on looking for his first goal of the season.

  17. Postpublished at 15:42 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    Livingston 0-0 Hibernian

Another half chance for the hosts. Steven Lawless' free kick is blocked by the wall, but Steve Lawson steers the ball back into the box towards Craig Sibbald who's scuffed effort is saved comfortably by Ofir Marciano.

Up the other end, Christian Doidge lashes a left foot effort over the bar. The Welshman will think he should've done better.

  18. CLOSE!published at 15:40 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    Motherwell 1-0 Hamilton

Christopher Long goes close to his second goal. James Scott retrieves what looks like a dead ball on the left and bends in a fine cross. Long gets in front of his man, but his header flies just by the near post.

That's the first glimmer from Motherwell in a while. It has been all Accies in the last five minutes.

  19. Postpublished at 15:39 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    St Johnstone 0-0 Ross County

The visitors come close again to opening the scoring with a cross in from the right from Josh Mullin evading a headed clearance from Jason Kerr, which allows the ball to bounce towards Brian Graham at the back post. The substitute is completely taken by surprise and ends up bundling the ball a few feet from goal. Big chance wasted.

  20. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:38 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    Livingston 0-0 Hibernian

Great effort from Steve Lawson. The man playing at right-back for Livi today breezes past Lewis Stevenson and drills a fierce shot towards the top corner, but Ofir Marciano does well to get a strong hand to it and tip the ball past the near post.
