  1. 'I will be a failure without Champions League win'published at 16:25 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2020

Spurs v Man City (16:30 GMT)

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola admits he will be regarded as a failure if he does not win the Champions League with the club.

The former Barcelona boss has won five major trophies since arriving at City in 2016, including Premier League titles in 2017-18 and 2018-19.

But he has 'only' won the Champions League twice - with Barcelona in 2009 and 2011 - and lost in last year's quarter-finals to Spurs.

"Last year was an extraordinary one for us but people say, 'But you didn't win the Champions League'," he said.

"That is why I will be judged, if we don't win it in my final period here, that I will be a failure here. I know that."

  2. 'The first time I met Jose he was wearing some white fluffy slippers'published at 16:24 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2020

    Steve Sidwell
Former Chelsea midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

The first time I met Jose Mourinho was at his house. I went down there with my wife and agent to discuss the move to Chelsea. His footwear was a pair of white fluffy slippers. He came down the stairs in them.

He didn't even know I was in his house. I was in his house for 20 minutes and he didn't even know I was there. He came down the stairs wearing his white slippers, a pair of jeans and a polo shirt and came in apologising. I was still looking at his slippers.

Sir Alex Ferguson said that every three or four years you have to create a new side. I think that is where this Pep Guardiola side is. It needs at least five or six new players at the end of this season to go again. Fergie used to do it - the successful teams do that.

Tottenham need to get a result if they want to stay in the pack chasing a fourth spot. They are not too far behind because of the way the Premier League has gone, with everyone beating everyone. A carrot has been dangled but can Spurs get there?

Manchester City will qualify for the Champions League through the league, but the league title chances have gone, so they have to concentrate on the Champions League.

  7. 'Mourinho knew what he was getting into'published at 16:20 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2020

Spurs v Man City (16:30 GMT)

    Tim Cahill
Former Everton midfielder on Final Score

Jose Mourinho knows what he was getting into. The biggest thing was signing the players he wanted to sign or not having the budget to sign what he needs.

Losing Christian Eriksen, in my opinion, is a massive loss for the club. We don't know the intricate details of what could have kept him there and what the club's philosophies are in what levels they can go to.

Eriksen is a player who has got so much more growth in him from where he is at now, which is exciting.

So I feel Mourinho definitely knows what he has gotten himself into, but he has to work within the parameters of what he has been given.

Nicholas Black: I hear a lot about Premier league clubs not having money for transfer, but where does all the money go for TV rights? Surely they should be rolling in it?

Zaf: Arsenal fans blaming owners and forgetting how much was spent on Pepe Lacazette Aubayemang Xhaka Ozil and Mkhitaryan. No team just individuals.

  9. Spurs' strugglespublished at 16:18 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2020

Spurs v Man City (16:30 GMT)

Spurs have picked up only one point from a possible 18 this season against teams above them in the table prior to the weekend's matches.

They have lost two of their six home league matches under Jose Mourinho, as many as in their final 15 home games under Mauricio Pochettino.

Spurs have kept just two clean sheet in 17 league and cup games under Mourinho. Their three Premier League clean sheets this season is the worst record in the top flight.

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta talking to BBC Match of the Day 2: "In periods of the game, yes I liked it, but in other periods I did not. We started to give free-kicks, throw-ins, corners away and in that they are better than us.

"I learned a lot about the resilience we showed in defence and also that we need to improve the quality of our play, be calmer and improve the end product.

"In the offensive part of our game, we have to do better for longer periods of the game."

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta talking to Sky Sports: "I was very pleased with the first 15-20 minutes, the way we came out and dominated the game. After 20-25 minutes we started to give sloppy passes away, gave throw-ins, corners away and that sequence is difficult to get out of here.

"They are very good at chipping the ball forward, the best way to stop it is to have control of the ball. It did disturb the way we wanted to attack but it's not an excuse. Granit [Xhaka] played there and did well.

"The way the boys defended was really good and I think we have improved a lot in the way we concede chances."

Manchester City have won 11 of their last 12 Premier League matches in London, with the exception a 2-0 defeat by Chelsea in December 2018.

City have scored in each of their last 23 Premier League away games, the third longest run in the competition's history.

    FT: Burnley 0-0 Arsenal

    Burnley

Burnley boss Sean Dyche talking to BBC MOTD 2: "You don't want to get too greedy, it's a good run of performances and results. I thought we did enough to edge it, we had a couple of golden chances and kept them to meagre ones.

"We're not a side that's going to create so many it's ridiculous, it's about the quality of chances. We asked enough to score a goal.

"Jay [Rodriguez] scored a cracker at Manchester United, he's beginning to get stronger. He had to wait for his chance but the front two were very good.

"We were on a tough run and the last three games have shown we can be at least competitive."

Spurs v Man City (16:30 GMT)

Tottenham have not won in six Premier League games against Manchester City (D2, L4), with their last victory coming at White Hart Lane in October 2016.

City have lost three of their last five league and cup away games against Spurs, but have won their last five Premier League away games in north London (versus Arsenal and Tottenham) - as many as they had in their first 40.

Spurs have claimed 23 Premier League victories versus City - the only team they have a better record against is Everton (26 wins).

Former Man Utd striker on Football Focus

Harry Kane has got to do what he needs to do to get himself back as soon as possible.

He is Spurs’ big hope of scoring the goals they need. No-one else is going to live up to his standards.

But to see him moving, and hopefully getting back on the grass soon with a bit of a light jog, Spurs fans will be delighted with that.

What he can’t do is he can’t rush back.

    FT: Burnley 0-0 Arsenal

    Burnley

Burnley boss Sean Dyche talking to Sky Sports: "We had a good grasp of the game. Had enough chances to score and the balance of the side was very good.

"Another solid show of us continuing to improve. We wanted to be brave and set the press.

"No grand statements. We played some reasonable stuff and created chances.

"It is lovely to watch when people are falling over, it is my favourite part. The game is in a fantastic state. No-one wants to adress it apart from me, so I am absolutely happy with the state of the game."
