City are definitely on top now. Only an excellent tackle by Giovani lo Celso - who is now a full-time Spurs player following a loan spell from Real Betis - stops a shooting opportunity.

Toby Alderweireld has done magnificently there because Sergio Aguero was in. Alderweireld slides across him and puts Aguero off. The keeper might have flicked it on to the post as well, he flung out a leg. Big let-off for Spurs there.

  3. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 28 mins

    Spurs 0-0 Man City

The closest we've come to a goal so far. Sergio Aguero is played in on goal by Riyad Mahrez's deflected pass, he takes a touch to go past a defender and then tries to slip the ball into the bottom corner. But Hugo Lloris gets a foot onto the ball and touches it onto the post.

Re 16:31 - Winning a cup - any cup - three years on the trot is a successful season. This 'Champions League or bust' standard which City are always held to is ludicrous.

Oooof, Kevin de Bruyne has a shot from about 30 yards out. It's powerful and on target but easily dealt with by Hugo Lloris.

Disgusting challenge from Sterling, what is wrong with var and the ref, right under his nose, ankle breaker straight red.

How is that Raheem Sterling foul any different from the Aubameyang red card against Crystal Palace a couple weeks ago? Both unintentional yet one was declared serious foul play and the other not? Too many inconsistencies with this VAR nonsense.

Riyad Mahrez finds Sergio Aguero, his first touch tries to take him past Harry Winks - but the Spurs midfielder deals with the threat well.

Now Ilkay Gundogan's ball over the top to Aguero is punched away by Hugo Lloris.

Dele Alli looks like he is moving all right. Jose will be breathing a sigh of relief. You can tell when Alli is on form. He does all the tricks and flicks. He did go through a bit of a lull but he's out of it now.

  13. Postpublished at 19 mins

It's Dele Alli just off Lucas Moura up front for Spurs - who do not have a senior striker except for the injured Harry Kane.

  14. Postpublished at 18 mins

    Spurs 0-0 Man City

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson does excellently this time. Harry Winks plays a long ball to Dele Alli, who is in on goal. But Ederson has raced 30 yards off his line to boot it onto the Spurs half.

When you look at it in slow-motion it is completely different. He's taken a heavy touch, he's gone to win it. There was no malice in it. It is does look bad in slo-mo. He's caught him on the ankle, but I just think the angles make it look a million times worse.

  16. Postpublished at 15 mins

Jose Mourinho isn't happy with that decision and is complaining to the officials about it. He saw the replay again on a screen on the bench and has his head in his hands.

Dele Alli is able to come back on after treatment.

  17. Postpublished at 16:44 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2020

Raheem Sterling escapes a red card. The VAR boys say a yellow card was the right decision. It was a dangerous tackle, but he got a slight touch of the ball which may have saved him in a way.

  19. YELLOW CARDpublished at 13 mins

    Spurs 0-0 Man City

This is a bad one as Raheem Sterling goes in studs-up on Dele Alli and catches him on the ankle. That's nasty. Yellow card. Could it be more?

  20. Postpublished at 12 mins

    Spurs 0-0 Man City

City goalkeeper Ederson is strangely slow to the ball. Steven Bergwijn clips a hopeful ball through which is about two yards in front of Ederson. But the City goalkeeper doesn't actually go to clear it and Lucas Moura chases in forcing his fellow Brazilian into action.
