  1. goal

GOAL - Aston Villa 2-2 Tottenhampublished at 53 mins

    Bjorn Engels

Defenders contributing to goals at both ends, it seems today.

It's good work from Anwar El Ghazi to win the corner - he has been fantastic today. The corner is swung in and Bjorn Engels gets there first to nod it into the net.

  2. 'Impressive Samatta'published at 15:11 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2020

Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

    Good play from Villa.

It was Mbwana Samatta who chested it down for Anwar El Ghazi to have the shot and it's the latest bit of good work by him - I've been impressed with Samatta today.

Bjorn Engels with a decent sliding tackle on Son Heung-min in the box. This game has been brilliant to watch!

  4. CLOSE!published at 52 mins

    Aston Villa 1-2 Tottenham

What a goal this would have been!

It's curled into the box from the right and Mbwana Samatta chests it down beautifully for Anwar El Ghazi who catches it sweetly on the half-volley.

If he hits it anywhere other than at Hugo Lloris, it's probably in.

  5. Postpublished at 50 mins

    Aston Villa 1-2 Tottenham

Son Heung-min tries to wriggle room in the box to cut it back but it's hoofed clear by Villa. Lucas Moura then tries to float a long ball over to Dele Alli but it won't get there.

Son is only the first Asian player to 50 PL goals if you don't count Australians (Viduka, Kewell, and Cahill all have more than 50).

Jack Grealish is brought down late by a sliding Lucas Moura. The resulting free-kick is cleared on the edge of the box and Steven Bergwijn breaks with pace.

He runs the whole length of the pitch but Frederic Guilbert gets a touch on it right at the death! Crucial block.

Talking of Dennis, it was in this fixture that Arsenal's Bergkamp caused a huge storm by scoring that incredible goal, flicking the ball past Nikos Dabizas, pirouetting and slotting a cool finish across Shay Given.

One of THE great Premier League goals...or did he fluke it? You decide.

Thumbs up for great, thumbs down for fluke.

Dave Payn: With the weather conditions as they are, I feel it's silly to blame Lloris for the first goal. Yes, he was going to come but quickly decided against it. Alderweireld the main culprit or it was just plain unlucky.

Son Heung-min is the sixth player to net 50 Premier League goals for Spurs. He's in decent company.Harry Kane - 136

    Teddy Sheringham - 97

    Jermain Defoe - 91

    Robbie Keane - 91

    Christian Eriksen - 51

    Son Heung-min - 50

He is also the first Asian player to reach that landmark in the PL.

    Arsenal

Braved the elements and made it down to the capital for the mid table clash between 11th placed Arsenal and Newcastle in 12.

The Gunners are yet to fully get going under new boss Mikel Arteta as he looks to restore the glories of one of English football's fallen giants.

Various newspaper cuttings have been stuck up on the walls around the press room and this one is of particular interest from 2004, when the Gunners beat Nottingham Forest's record by going 43 games unbeaten.

Runaway league leaders Liverpool reached that landmark with victory at Norwich on Saturday and are now just six shy of Arsenal's 49 games without losing.

Arsenal's handymen will be getting twitchy, they may have some removal work to do soon.

It's been a really good game so far.

The Villa fans are booing, but that's at the referee and VAR, not their team.

I can't see Son Heung-min coming out for the second half here - his arm is clearly bothering him.

Chris Baldwin: Definite penalty. He went through the man to get the ball.
