It's a great save by Pepe Reina from the penalty but it's a good finish on the follow-up by Son Heung-min.

Villa have dominated this first half but Tottenham look a lot more dangerous than they do.

  2. goal

GOAL - Aston Villa 1-2 Tottenhampublished at 46 mins

    Son Heung-min

Pepe Reina saves the penalty, diving well to his right, but the rebound is gobbled up by Son, who reacts quickest.

He bundles it over the line and Reina grabs his shorts, screaming furiously. Must be so frustrating for a keeper to save a penalty and still concede!

There is contact. Bjorn Engels misses the ball initially when he slides in, so it's harsh, but it's a penalty.

Pogboom: Danny Drinkwater is way out of his depth in Premier League matches, why is he starting?! Douglas Luiz, on the other hand, has been excellent.

  10. VAR checkpublished at 14:43 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2020

They are checking that strike from Steven Bergwijn. There's a few appeals for handball against Bjorn Engels...

    Nope. Nothing wrong with it.

    Aston Villa 1-1 Tottenham

Tottenham have come back into this game gradually and they're creating the better chances at the moment.

But Dele Alli, again, has to score there!

  12. CLOSE!published at 42 mins

    Aston Villa 1-1 Tottenham

Dele Alli robs the ball off Kortney Hause and wins a free-kick in midfield. He tries to take it quickly but Douglaz Luiz won't let him.

Ben Davies then combines with Lucas Moura (who flicks it first time into his path on the left) and cuts it back into the middle. Alli's shot ricochets off two defenders before Steven Bergwijn's shot is blocked. How did that not go in?!

  13. Postpublished at 40 mins

    Aston Villa 1-1 Tottenham

    It's SO open.

A switch of play from Villa doesn't quite come off and Spurs have room to counter through the middle before that move breaks down.

Pepe Reina sets Villa on their way again with a pass to his right.

Lloris is only ever a match winner or a liability, never anything inbetween. He's too inconsistent to be a top player and Spurs need to move him on.

Anwar El Ghazi has a crack from long range. Hugo Lloris deals with it and the rebound it cleared.

El Ghazi then drills a cross in from the right and thinks it's hit Davinson Sanchez' arm on the way through. A few appeals but no VAR.

A man of Dele Alli's quality should be scoring - he does everything right apart from the finish.

  17. CLOSE!published at 36 mins

    Aston Villa 1-1 Tottenham

Son Heung-min flicks it on for Dele Alli down the right and he's through on goal. The angle is tight but he only has Pepe Reina to beat.

Alli opts to go with the outside of his boot but doesn't get enough curl on it and it flies wide of the far post. Huge chance!

Poor from Lucas Moura - if he squares it there, he'd have two men there for a tap-in.

It's a brilliant break by Spurs though - they're so dangerous on the break.

A punch from the Spurs keeper this time before it's eventually cleared. Lucas Moura is then released down the left but Kortney Hause makes an important sliding block.
