  1. CLOSE!published at 16:08 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2020

    Sheffield United 1-1 Brighton

Brighton are a real handful at corners - the ball is not cut out properly at the back post, it falls into the arc of Lewis Dunk and the Seagulls captain batters a shot over the top from about six yards out. Should have hit the target!

  2. Postpublished at 16:08 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2020

    Southampton 1-0 Aston Villa

Nice move by Aston Villa at the start of the second half and they win a corner. Alex McCarthy manages to tip away Jack Grealish's delivery before Southampton are awarded a free kick for a foul.

Jack (15:46) makes a very good point. The vile, aggressive culture of abuse by some football fans is the root cause of most of football's problems. What other sport is marred by such disgusting behaviour?

    Lee

I agree with Jack London re treatment of referees. My son is a police inspector in his early 30s he gave up officiating at junior matches because of the level of abuse.

  4. CLOSE!published at 16:07 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2020

    Burnley 0-0 Bournemouth

Ashley Westwood has got a nice knack from scoring direct from corners and that's nearly another one!

Andrew Surman has to head it off the line, wonderful strike of the ball.

  6. Postpublished at 16:05 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2020

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Newcastle

Newcastle are fast asleep as only the post prevents them from falling further behind. A cross is allowed to run through to Jordan Ayew, who smashes an effort against the base of the post.

  9. 'European ban will galvanise City'published at 16:01 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2020

Leicester v Man City (17:30 GMT)

    Kieron Dyer
Former England and Newcastle midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

I think the possible ban could be a positive which galvanises Manchester City to go on and win it (the Champions League).

Their priority now is the Champions League. The league is done.

I think Pep Guardiola and the players will go for it and I really fancy them to win it this year.

  10. Palace find their shooting bootspublished at 15:59 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2020

Six shots on target for Crystal Palace so far - already equalling their best in a Premier League game this season overall.

    Dion Dublin
Former Man Utd striker on Football Focus

If you’re going to have a wobble it’s not a bad time to have it as you have time to get it right. I like watching Leicester, the manager has got it right and they are only going to get better. Players will want to play for them.

Paul Richards: Jack (see 15:46) is right. I'm a park-level referee. Respect campaigns only go so far. If football took its lead from rugby/NFL (red cards for bad language, hearing the ref explain their decisions on TV, no abuse from pundits etc) the difference would be huge.

Totally agree Jack. I'm a qualified ref at youth grass roots level and am verbally abused (and even threatened) most weeks. There is zero respect from a majority of kids, coaches or parents.

    Burnley 0-0 Bournemouth

    Phil Dawkes
    BBC Sport at Turf Moor

No goals yet but no shortage of chances. Bournemouth have seen a goal ruled out by VAR and found Nick Pope in inspired form. Matej Vydra has been denied a couple of times at the other end.

Both teams have had spells of dominance. No way to call it, but everyone is here is at least grateful for the chance to head into the stands to warm up.

  18. 'Brighton have showed nothing'published at 15:50 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2020

    HT: Sheffield United 1-1 Brighton

    Chris Waddle
Ex-Tottenham and England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Ezequiel Schelotto is the only Brighton player who's wanted to get on the ball, wanted to play. It's all very well being organised but you've got to play, you've got to create chances. Other than set pieces, Brighton have showed nothing.

Give Brighton credit defensively. It's not been the greatest game and the conditions are terrible.
