  1. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 16:23 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2020

    Sheffield United 1-1 Brighton

Big penalty appeal from Brighton now as Ezequiel Schelotto's cross is charged down by Ben Osborn.

That hit him flush in the hand. No penalty given.

That was surely more of a handball than either of the big calls at Turf Moor. Baffling...

Kris Jefferson: Honestly I think Newcastle are up there as one of the favourites to be relegated. They've been abysmal since the turn of the year. Think Bruce needs to take a lot of the blame as well, sets them up so negatively on the defence no matter the opposition.

    Burnley 2-0 Bournemouth

Not that it really even matters any more but I'm not so sure it was even a handball by Adam Smith. Top of the chest/arm sort of area. Would never have been given pre-VAR.

  4. Postpublished at 16:21 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2020

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Newcastle

Just the one shot on target for Newcastle and that came in the first half. They've been poor today.

  5. 'Brighton very short on confidence'published at 16:20 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2020

    Sheffield United 1-1 Brighton

    Chris Waddle
Ex-Tottenham and England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think Brighton are very short on confidence and confidence is everything in football. They're working hard, they're trying to do the right things but the confidence, in many of the players, is not there.

They're giving Sheffield United a bit too much time and space in the final third. The work rate by four or five of the players is not good enough.

  6. Cherries stung in a big waypublished at 16:19 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2020

    Burnley 2-0 Bournemouth

    Phil Dawkes
    BBC Sport at Turf Moor

Well, that was all a bit mad. You have to feel for poor Bournemouth. A second goal ruled out by VAR for handball and now they find themselves 2-0 down.

The cheer that greeted the decision to rule out the goal, was louder than that which greeted Vydra's superb opener.

Naturally, the away fans make it perfectly clear what they think of the technology. It has stung them in a big way here.

If ever a few seconds summed up the fine margins between success and failure.

  7. GREAT SAVE!published at 16:19 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2020

    Southampton 1-0 Aston Villa

Pepe Reina keeps Southampton's lead to one goal as he pushes away Pierre-Emile Højbjerg's volley.

Conor Hourihane is on for Aston Villa, replacing Ezri Konsa Ngoyo.

    Jay Rodriguez (Pen 61mins)

The scenario that was often ruminated over in the good old days before VAR. What would happen if there's a penalty appeal turned down and the team goes down the other end and score?

This, this is what happens. The equaliser was chalked off and Jay Rodriguez has slammed in from the spot. Bournemouth fans go from level to two down in seconds.

  9. PENALTY to BURNLEYpublished at 16:17 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2020

    Burnley 1-0 Bournemouth

My word! Goal ruled out, penalty at the OTHER end!

Adam Smith is penalised for a handball seconds before the Cherries went up the other end and scored.

  10. CLOSE!published at 16:16 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2020

    Southampton 1-0 Aston Villa

Jack Stephens gets in front of the Aston Villa defence to meet Ryan Bertrand's delivery but prods wide of the goal.

Allan Saint-Maximin is onto Joelinton's pass and he squares the ball across the face of goal but there's no Newcastle player there waiting. A missed opportunity for the visitors.

It’s poor defending from Francis, he just came sliding across but you need to be wiser – but take nothing away from Vydra. It’s a good finish.

Seventh corner of the game for Southampton as Ryan Bertrand's delivery is nodded down by Shane Long but Danny Ings' first-time shot can't get through the crowded box.

  18. 'Sheffield United will be disappointed'published at 16:12 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2020

    Sheffield United 1-1 Brighton

    Chris Waddle
Ex-Tottenham and England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

That's a great chance. It's sat up a bit and Dunk's got under it.

Sheffield United will be disappointed. They've had a lot of the ball but Mat Ryan has hardly had a shot to save.

  20. goal

GOAL - Burnley 1-0 Bournemouthpublished at 16:10 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2020

    Matej Vydra (53 mins)

You can't argue with the fact that Matej Vydra is making the most of this belated chance in the Burnley attack! Great finish again.

Dwight McNeil slots him in down the side of the defence, you know he's going to chop in onto his right foot just like he did in the first half but somehow Simon Francis doesn't. The Cherries captain dives in, Vydra leaves him on his back and buries the shot into the roof of the net.

    Cracking goal.
