  1. 'I hope we'll be safe shortly'published at 18:33 Greenwich Mean Time 29 February 2020

    FT: West Ham 3-1 Southampton

    West Ham United

More from Moyes, after the Hammers beat Southampton 3-1: "We've been in [the relegation zone] for a few weeks but I always thought we had an opportunity to win games. We've taken the first win today, we've got to take all the opportunities that come our way, because it's going to be tight and could go right to the last minute.

"The crowd were great. It felt like a sell-out. The crowd were right behind the team, and since I've been here they've been great. Everybody knows what West Ham supporters are really like and we needed them today, and we'll need them in the coming weeks as well.

"I'm happy because we're getting away from the bottom end of the league. I hope we'll be safe shortly and then I can put things in place for us to improve and become better. If I get the opportunity, I think I can turn this around and turn this into something special, but I can't do it right away."

  2. 'We can't act like Bowen is our saviour'published at 18:32 Greenwich Mean Time 29 February 2020

    FT: West Ham 3-1 Southampton

    West Ham United

West Ham manager David Moyes speaking to Match of the Day: "We certainly needed it, but I said before the game - good performances lead to results. We had a good performance against Liverpool, the players have been getting better, we've had really tough games, and we took it on today.

"We made a host of chances. I was more disappointed that we missed some of the chances. We could have been far out of sight earlier.

"There was a lot of good things and a lot of good performances. I've had a few boys from the Championship [like Jarrod Bowen] - I hope I've got an idea what i'm doing with them. He showed exactly what he showed in training, that he can score, but we can't bring him here and act like he's the saviour of West Ham."

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe: "A really entertaining game, a good advert for the league and we more than played our part. We just couldn't get over the line to win it.

"We needed to get in their faces in the second half and we turned the momentum in the match.

"Set-pieces are a massive part of the game, scoring from open play has been difficult for us this season. We have looked more like us over the last four or five games, we are building momentum at the right side of the season.

"We look a goal threat, we have to be positive."

  4. 'I’m pleased we created more and we were a threat'published at 18:29 Greenwich Mean Time 29 February 2020

    FT: Newcastle 0-0 Burnley

    Newcastle United

Newcastle manager Steve Bruce: "Was a better performance. There are positives I can take and a clean sheet which is important and a point which gets us to the target we want to get to.

"When you do create chances in the big league you need to take them but we we didn’t take them, but I’m pleased we created more and we were a threat.

"We played a back four and two up top which made us more positive. I was pleased with a lot of it and the shots and the attempts - 20 or something - which is a positive.

"We’ll take a point, it wasn’t pretty at times but we were a lot better going forward.

"There are still eight or 10 teams in there and until you get to that magical number and you are in the bottom half of the division you know how hard it is to win a game."

Let's have a quick whip around the reaction today's earlier games...

    HT: Watford 0-0 Liverpool

Liverpool only had one shot in that first half...

It's only the second time in 172 Premier League games under Jurgen Klopp that has happened, the other against Chelsea at Anfield in January 2017.

Dizz: Deeney is on that list of players who seem to be allowed a reckless tackle every game without punishment. Awful late and high on trent, not even a foul...

Van Dijk knew what he was doing there [when Deulofeu was injured], just have to hope it isn't a too serious injury.

What a chance at the end there for Watford. Abdoulaye Doucoure had his head in his hands as he watched his team-mate Troy Deeney try but ultimately fail to get the ball past Alisson and into the net.

The Hornets, though, have done well this half, although Liverpool came into it more just before the Deeney chance.

It was a great opportunity, Alisson has done so well to get a hand to it and Troy Deeney has been unlucky to put it wide.

Watford have taken the game to Liverpool. Liverpool have been guilty of giving the ball away and being sloppy.

  10. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:22 Greenwich Mean Time 29 February 2020

    And that's the break.

Watford have had the better chances.

  11. CLOSE!published at 45+5 mins

    Watford 0-0 Liverpool

    How has he not scored!?

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson makes a right mess of an awkward, lofted ball into the area and surely Troy Deeney can just tap into an empty net... no!

Alisson redeems himself with a great save at the Watford skipper's feet and Deeney prods the rebound wide.

    Massive chance for the hosts.

What a satisfying tackle from Watford left-back Adam Masina, using the wet turf to full effect as he goes sliding across to dispossess Trent Alexander-Arnold.

    Watford 0-0 Liverpool

Remember when snoods first became a thing in the Premier League? I'm giving Robinho credit as the trendsetter on that occasion. Anyway, Jurgen Klopp has his club-branded number pulled up over his nose - it's a cold evening in Hertfordshire.

  14. Postpublished at 45+1 mins

    Watford 0-0 Liverpool

Watford are sitting really deep when out of possession, forcing Liverpool to try and break them down - Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain opts to sling one into the box but the hosts won't mind that.

  15. Postpublished at 44 mins

    Watford 0-0 Liverpool

Neat turn from Ismaila Sarr as the Liverpool defence backs off. The Watford forward carries it to the edge of the area before skewing it well wide.

  16. Postpublished at 42 mins

    Watford 0-0 Liverpool

That's late on Trent Alexander-Arnold by Troy Deeney... a proper striker's tackle, and studs right on the ankle of the right-back. Not sure how he's escaped without a card of any kind?!

Colin Owen: Loving the radio and text commentary on the BBC from Antigua. Not worried at all as a Liverpool fan. I would love to be unbeaten, but I would take the league on goal difference after all this time.

Bob Moss: Seems Liverpool are running on fumes. Think Watford can take them today.

Vicarage Road has gone a bit flat after that stoppage - understandably so. Watford and Gerard Deulofeu were looking really lively before the injury.

  19. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 37 mins

    Watford 0-0 Liverpool

Gerard Deulofeu is applauded as he is taken off on a stretcher. Let's hope it's a quick recovery for the Watford winger. He's replaced by Roberto Pereyra.

  20. Postpublished at 34 mins

    Watford 0-0 Liverpool

Gerard Deulofeu looks in pain. The stretcher is coming on. This doesn't look too good for the Watford man. Fingers crossed he's OK - had a really bright start to the game and Nigel Pearson will not want to lose him for any length of time.
