    Watford 0-0 Liverpool

Virgil van Dijk nudges Gerard Deulofeu aside like an annoying little brother.

The Watford winger is in a bit of bother, looks like he twisted his knee. Ouch. On second viewing, that looks awkward and painful. Hopefully it's nothing too serious. Just got his studs caught in the turf there.

    Watford 0-0 Liverpool

Abdoulaye Doucoure goes bursting into the Liverpool half but can't seem to get the ball out of his feet and eventually makes the wrong pass - had team-mates in support there.

    Watford 0-0 Liverpool

Virgil van Dijk is fuming after Watford get a throw - Michael Oliver thought it just flicked off Trent Alexander-Arnold. Liverpool deal with it, otherwise there would have been an inquest...

Ismaila Sarr is proving a real threat. He just hangs in the space on the right and Liverpool have been very slow to close him down and he's put in a few good crosses so far. Watford are certainly looking to make the most of the wide areas.

    Watford 0-0 Liverpool

Gerard Deulofeu wants handball, it does strike Dejan Lovren on the arm in the penalty area but there's little the Liverpool defender can do about it. It came after Deulofeu escaped Trent Alexander-Arnold once more, he's looking dangerous... the England right-back has some defending to do.

    Watford 0-0 Liverpool

    Stephen Kelly
Former Reading and Fulham defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Watford have been doing well, especially down the wings - both Ismaila Sarr and Gerard Deulofeu have looked good going forward. Sarr has put some really teasing balls into the box. It's been a difficult start for Liverpool.

Ilyas Najib: As things stand we are 23 points clear at the top, but my nerves are sky high. We need this win, Watford are a wounded animal, it’s only a matter of time before they beat a big team.

I'm sorry but can you please not accept any more messages from "worried" Liverpool fans. You're not worried, you're gonna win the league deservedly by a mile. Leave the worrying to the rest of us?

    Watford 0-0 Liverpool

Watford are getting at Liverpool's full-backs, and with some joy.

Nigel Pearson's side are moving it wide and finding space to get deliveries into the box, looking for Troy Deeney.

Always a tricky take that for Mo Salah - dropping over his shoulder, on the bounce, on his right foot... and he slices Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's clipped pass into the side-netting.

Andrew Robertson was almost in there, but it's superb tracking back from Ismaila Sarr to get his body in front of the Liverpool full-back and stop him picking out a cross.

    Liverpool are starting to press.

  11. 'Liverpool have been sloppy'published at 17:47 Greenwich Mean Time 29 February 2020

    Watford 0-0 Liverpool

    Stephen Kelly

Liverpool haven't had it their own way and they've been sloppy at times. When Gerard Deulofeu's got the ball on the left hand side he's getting at Trent Alexander-Arnold, running at him, and it's difficult as a full-back when you let them come into the box - you have to keep them off that right foot but he's allowed him to cut inside and have some shots.

Quick feet from Roberto Firmino before the ball is nicked off his toes in the area - and now he's slipped over. Put the moulds away, lads!

    Watford 0-0 Liverpool

Mohamed Salah is on the ground. Seen them given... only joking, it's just a slip in the middle of the pitch and miles from anyone, must be the greasy turf. Think he's just annoyed he missed a chance to run at the Watford defence.

The Hornets go storming up the other end, Gerard Deulofeu rolls it into Abdoulaye Doucoure and his strike is deflected wide.

  15. CLOSE!published at 11 mins

    Watford 0-0 Liverpool

Gerard Deulofeu is the Watford danger man.

The Hornets break quickly and work it left to the winger, who makes Trent Alexander-Arnold backpedal into his own box before curling an effort towards goal with his right foot, but it's just a touch too high. Big chance.

This has been a really bright start by Watford and the home fans are certainly encouraged by what they've seen so far. Alisson has also knocked a couple of wayward clearances straight out of play, both times as a consequence of the home side's high press..

When Liverpool have attacked Watford have been quick to close down the man in possession too,

So far so good for the hosts.

    Watford 0-0 Liverpool

Trent Alexander-Arnold wins a corner this time... first chance for the right-back to deliver from a deadball - it's easily cleared by Troy Deeney.

    Watford 0-0 Liverpool

That's a lovely pass from Trent Alexander-Arnold - weaker foot, a clipped, curling ball into the path of Roberto Firmino. It comes to nothing, but the vision and technique is lovely to watch.

  19. Postpublished at 6 mins

    Watford 0-0 Liverpool

Good start this from the hosts. The tricky Gerard Deulofeu scampers in on off the left flank and fires a low effort wide of the near post from range.

Watford already looking to hit Troy Deeney early. The Hornets forward is allowed time to take the ball on his chest and turn, just can't pick out a team-mate with the pass.
