  1. What you think about Group Apublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 12 June 2021

    Wales v Switzerland (14:00 BST)

A BBC Sport poll shows 70% of voters believe Wales will progress to the knock-out stages of Euro 2020.

Just 9% think they will top Group A, but 31% expect Wales to be runners-up in a group which also features Italy, Switzerland and Turkey.

A further 30% see Wales finishing in third place, but still qualifying as one of the four best third placed teams.

Only 13% expect Rob Page's side to end the group stage bottom of their table.

Wales interim manager Robert Page has been saying for a while he's known which team he would pick today for weeks.

Would it be a 3-4-3 with a false nine? Surely he had to pick Kieffer Moore based on the evidence of recent Wales games?

Don't read too much into friendly matches, Page said. And so it has proved to be the case.

You would imagine that selection would broadly be welcomed by most Wales fans.

For me it was obvious in the last few games that I have seen Wales play, whenever Kieffer Moore has come on the pitch, he has made a huge impact.

He has allowed other players to play their game.

It wouldn't have made sense to me to go with a false nine. (When you are) trying to get a win and get some momentum, I think he had to start.

    Wales v Switzerland (14:00 BST)

With squads of 26, but only 12 subs permitted (as in previous tournaments) three players must miss out on the match day squad.

Wales boss Robert Page has opted to select two goalkeepers on the bench, so Wales' unlucky trio are Rubin Colwill, Ben Cabango and Matt Smith.

  7. Sliding doors moments for some playerspublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 12 June 2021

    Wales v Switzerland (14:00 BST)

When one door closes, another opens.

That's how some players in the England, Scotland and Wales squads must be seeing this year's delayed Euros tournament.

Because while we were all disappointed not to be watching our national teams last summer, some players were handed an extra 12 months to play their way into their managers' plans.

It turns out a year is a long time in football - because these squads are more different than you might think.

Newsbeat has been looking at some of the players who couldn't or wouldn't have featured 12 months ago.

Here we go then. Five years and a day after their European Championship debut in Bordeaux, Wales begin their Euro 2020 adventure in Baku.

Fun fact: Bordeaux is Baku’s twin city in France.

The heightened sense of anticipation and baking hot sunshine remain - but it’s a very different scene here compared to 2016.

Back then, there were 24,000 Wales fans inside the Stade de Bordeaux. This time, coronavirus restrictions mean that the Welsh contingent is likely to be in the hundreds rather than thousands.

If their lively presence around Baku this morning is anything to by, they’ll still make themselves heard inside the Baku Olympic Stadium.

Some key talking points... Kieffer Moore starts, no Ethan Ampadu, Harry Wilson also misses out, Connor Roberts is picked over Neco Williams, Danny Ward over Wayne Hennessey... and the Joe pairing continues....

    Wales v Switzerland (14:00 BST)

There was no such heated selection debate for Switzerland, who stick to their tried and tested 3-4-1-2 formation.

Liverpool playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri plays in the hole behind the strikers, while Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka is captain.

Newcastle defender Fabian Schar is fit to start after a recent injury.

After all the debating about 3-4-3 or 4-2-3-1 - would striker Kieffer Moore start or would Wales play with a false nine - Robert Page has thrown a curveball by starting Moore after all.

It looks like a 4-2-3-1, with captain Gareth Bale on the right and Aaron Ramsey as the 10.

Wales: Ward; C. Roberts, Mepham, Rodon, B. Davies; Allen, Morrell; Bale, Ramsey, James; Moore.

There hasn't been this much debate about whether to start a Moore since Timothy Dalton replaced Sir Roger as James Bond in the mid-1980s.

Most Wales fans would pick the Cardiff City striker and boss Robert Page says his selection is a nice problem.
