  1. goal

GOAL - Wales 0-1 Switzerlandpublished at 49 mins

    Breel Embolo

What a way to concede after all that defending.

Wales are finally undone by a set-piece as Xherdan Shaqiri's corner is headed in by Breel Embolo, who had just come so close to scoring.

You can't say they don't deserve it.

    Danny Ward saves Wales.

Breel Embolo goes clear, his shot is fierce, but Ward tips it over the bar.

There's no intent from Kieffer Moore.

They are both going for the ball and sometimes you get in arm in the face.

You can't jump without your arms, it's as simple as that.

  4. YELLOW CARDpublished at 47 mins

    Wales 0-0 Switzerland

As mentioned earlier, Kieffer Moore is getting the Peter Crouch treatment.

He is booked there, essentially, for jumping.

    One yellow card apiece now.

Richard: Very poor. Kieffer is isolated because Bale, Ramsey and DJ are being pushed back. They either need to stay higher and win the ball back further upfield, or we need to play through the lines. We can't keep inviting pressure. We saw what happened last night.

Poor from Wales so far. Too deep, too direct. Rethink at half time. Switzerland haven't been great either, but they've totally bossed it.

  8. Switzerland's record first halfpublished at 15:05 British Summer Time 12 June 2021

    Wales 0-0 Switzerland

Switzerland's 11 shots is their most on record in the first half of a match at a major tournament.

Haris Seferovic has had four of those attempts. He's now had 13 shots at the European Championship but failed to score with any of them.

Both sides have managed just the single shot on target, however, but Wales will need to stay focused - five of the six goals they've ever conceded at the Euros have come in the second half.

If we are going to continue with the shape we are playing, the back four is going to have to get up the pitch.

We need more from Morrell, from Ramsey and from Bale.

They need to squeeze the game to allow the midfield to get on the ball. They also need to win second balls more and get closer to Kieffer Moore.

So at the moment, there are quote a few problems there.

We allowed the Swiss to get a foothold and once they get that they started to become comfortable.

They look composed and look as though they know what to do where as Wales look a bit nervous and frenetic.

It's pretty obvious what we need to do better. We need to look after the ball. Robert Page has got a bit of work to do.

    A difficult watch, definitely.

We are not getting our main players into the game, mainly because we are not passing the ball crisply enough.

Maybe Robert Page will change it - maybe he will go to three at the back.

For me, we just don't seem to know what we are doing when we haven't got the ball.

Gareth Bale, without the ball, doesn't seem to know what his job is. He has to offer more to the team when we haven't got the ball.

I expected Wales to be better if I am totally honest.

Mepham is too deep again - Embolo pinned him. That is the second or third time he has been caught deeper than the rest of the back four.

Seferovic at least has to hit the target.

We started well, first five or 10 minutes, but we have seen little or nothing since then.

You need to push the backline up a bit more, allow the midfield to push on and then get on and support your striker.

Switzerland have kept the ball better and Wales have been left in a low defensive block. I don't think they intended to play that way.

  18. HALF-TIME - Wales 0-0 Switzerlandpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 12 June 2021

Wales will be grateful to hear that half-time whistle.

They started well, they produced the best save of the game, but Switzerland have definitely been the dominant side.

Grab a brew or something stronger.

Switzerland are the ones asking the questions as we approach half-time.

Their average position is much, much higher up the pitch than Wales', whose only two shots so far came in the 15th and 16th minutes.
