I don't think he ever trusted in his own pace there Insigne to break away. It's a really good pass from Verratti, he just didn't put enough on it for Beradi coming in the other side.

Lorenzo Insigne is slipped through by Marco Verratti. Italy are in behind and he tries to slide it across to Domenico Berardi on the far side.

David Alaba races back and gets a crucial touch on it to poke it behind.

From the corner, Leonardo Bonucci nods it over.

Leonardo Spinazzola picks it up on the edge of the box again and it pops up for him to hit it on the half-volley.

He catches it well but it's blocked.

How unlucky was that from Austria's perspective.

Almost brilliant.

Konrad Laimer moves it on to Marko Arnautovic, who flicks it inside to Marcel Sabitzer.

He lays it off to his left but Italy stand firm on the edge of the box.

Wrong choice. It's one of the hardest things in football to get the football over the wall when you're on the edge of the box. When you're that close you need a powerful low shot. I personally think that's the wrong decision.

The corner is cleared and Austria break but Marko Arnautovic cuts inside and slices it out for a goal kick.

Austria are pressing early again but Lorenzo Insigne tracks back to win it for Italy.

It's then lifted down the channel for Ciro Immobile to chase and they have a throw-in near the corner.

Italy have experienced two counter-attacks from Austria that could have hurt them. That's now in the back of their minds. Italy ran out of opportunities to qualify for the 2018 World Cup. They were pushing, pushing, pushing and time was going by, and it stayed 0-0 so they didn't go to Russia. They better score soon.

Italy are going to dominate the second half, but if Austria can create an opportunity they're going to have to take it.

Italy have been talked up, rightly so, but they've got work to do.

Spinazzola just plays with freedom. The shackles are off. He sees situations early and just goes for it. He's direct, he's confident and he's been the creative spark for the Italians in the first half. From so deep he's a threat and as the half has gone on Austria have doubled up on him because he dominates areas and is very, very positive.
