Busy half from Leonardo Spinazzola wasn't it? Here was his effort later on.

  2. 'Austria brave on the ball'published at 20:55 British Summer Time 26 June 2021

    HT: Italy 0-0 Austria

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

I've enjoyed the first half. We all thought Italy would blow this Austria side away but they've taken confidence from their last game against Ukraine.

They've played really well. They've been organised, difficult to break down and I've think they've been brave on the ball.

  3. 'Austria growing in confidence'published at 20:54 British Summer Time 26 June 2021

    HT: Italy 0-0 Austria

    Jurgen Klinsmann
Former Germany head coach on BBC One

The first 20-25 minutes Italy made you dizzy. It was fabulous how they combined and how fast they were at passing. What was lacking was getting off a shot. It's dangerous because there is something in the air. Austria are growing in confidence and towards the end of the half you could see them move higher up the pitch.

Can I play devil's advocate against general opinion? Italy look to have been in the weakest group, Austria are not a great team either, and we won't know if they are really as good as they seem until they eventually come up against a good side.

  5. 'Austria have taken the sting out of the game'published at 20:53 British Summer Time 26 June 2021

    HT: Italy 0-0 Austria

    Rio Ferdinand
Former England defender on BBC One

Surprisingly Austria have been very composed at times in possession. They've taken the sting out of the game at times, but the Italians have looked most dangerous when they press. The moment they're on the front foot they look like they are going to break this team down and Austria can't deal with it. I think Mancini will be asking for a lot more of that.

  6. 'Italy have to be careful'published at 20:51 British Summer Time 26 June 2021

    HT: Italy 0-0 Austria

    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC One

There's not a lot in it possession-wise but Italy have done more with the ball when they've had it. They have created the best chances but they have to be really careful because Austria on the counter attack when they beat their press, they could have hurt them.

Italy have only won 2 of their last 11 Euro fixtures when drawing at half-time (D7, L2).

It's also now 1100 minutes since Italy last conceded a goal.

    Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder on BBC One

Roberto Mancini will want a little bit more off the ball. At times Austria have played out too easily, got up the pitch too easily. I think he'll want a little bit more from them defensively.

Arnautovic has got to be careful. He is partial to doing the odd stupid thing. We've seen it many times.

Jack Lovatt: Regardless of how dominant Italy have been, one mistake and Austria are in the driving seat

John dunthorne: Italian touches not as precise as in earlier matches, Austria still in this.

Richard: Italy need to be careful here. Austria are set up for and 1 nil counter attack strategy.

Italy finishing the half strongly, but they can't open up this Austrian side just yet.

    Italy 0-0 Austria

It's lovely to watch. Italy whip it around. One-touch, cool touches and some quick movement.

In the end, Marko Arnautovic brings down Leonardo Spinazzola just outside the box. He's on a yellow already remember.

Austria have got more confident in terms of their shape and understanding what Italy are trying to do. But you still feel Italy are sharper and more dangerous in the final third and they've had the better chances. But Austria have definitely gained confidence by keeping a clean sheet up to this point.

Good to watch fast flowing football from the Italians. Such a fluid setup / shape. Definitely room behind them though.

Oh the irony of England fans complaining their solid and dour team should play more like Italy. Italy!! Alanis Morrisette should write a song about it...

    Italy 0-0 Austria

    It's all Italy.

Every time they lose it, they win it back almost immediately.

But they are yet to score... Austria have a few minutes to hold on until half time.

  20. Austria making their markpublished at 20:40 British Summer Time 26 June 2021

    Italy 0-0 Austria

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Wembley Stadium

Italy looking the slicker more urgent side but Austria clearly fancy their chances of catching them on the break. Glorious effort from Ciro Immobile the closest we've come so far in a lively game.
