I think Stefan de Vrij just gets a toe to put it over the bar. Very, very good defending. It was a really, really good touch. It means so much to defenders when you do something like that and you stop the chance of a goal. It means so much to stop the ball going towards your keeper.

That man Denzel Dumfries bursts into the box and hammers a ball across goal which the Czech keeper saves before anybody has a tap-in.

Simon Turner: That’s now four corners and a free kick by Depay from which the Netherlands have not threatened the Czech goal. De Boer obviously thinks the law of averages means Depay is eventually going to get one right.

Big chance for the Czechs. Lukas Masopust plays a through ball to Antonin Barak and his shot from about eight yards out is blocked over the bar. I thought it was just a poor shot but it's a corner so it must have been deflected.

Our good friends at Opta inform us Gini Wijnaldum has had just eight touches in 34 minutes. A quiet day for him so far.

The Czech side are struggling to penetrate and have touched the ball just once in the Dutch area.

Oh that's a shame for the Netherlands. Donyell Malen could be in onto a though ball but his first touch takes him left rather than through the centre and he can't find a team-mate.

There's more white shirts in an attacking sense than there were orange shirts defending. That's how much they want to get on the end of these crosses this Czech Republic side.

Nice Dutch move down the right, Donyell Malen goes past a defender but then has a shot blocked by Ondrej Celustka.

I think it's been OK. It's been like watching a children's football match where there's so many players round the ball. If there are five orange shirts, there are five white shirts. Nobody has been able to find the space to play yet.

Nobody has been able to pick a pass, we've had one through ball from Depay and that's basically it. Nobody's had time on the ball but it's settling down this game. Two totally different styles in my opinion but they both work for each other.

Remember when the Czech Republic were rebranding as 'Czechia'? That didn't last long.

The Netherlands had seven shots in the first 20 minutes against Ukraine but just five in the opening 20 minutes of their subsequent three games combined (two v Austria, two v North Macedonia, one v Czech Republic).

That's what Soucek does. He was just waiting for the delivery. They get it into a really good area, right near the touchline, pull it back and who's there arriving? He does it all the time for West Ham. Soucek just didn't get enough on it but that's the danger. They will always get people in the box.

Aleks Yakubssohn: This game's intrigue is essentially a twin of yesterday's Italy vs Austria. A talented gallant but somewhat short of experience team up against a well drilled stern opponent. Plus in this case Czechs historically dominate the Dutch so it's double test for the latter

The best chance of the game for the Czech Republic. Petr Sevcik whips in a lovely cross and Tomas Soucek's diving, glancing header goes just wide.
