Tremendous quality in the opening 20 minutes, technical ability of receiving the ball in dangerous areas and the passing through the lines.

Azpilicueta was treading water. Emerson's done him for pace but the ball is only on the corner of the 18-yard box. Stay in the goal. Let me deal with it. You stop the ball going in the back of the net. He caused so many problems for his side there. Let the defenders defend!

    Italy 0-0 Spain

Nicolò Barella has got noticeably closer to Sergio Busquets and that good moment for Spain has been subdued now, with the balance of play swinging back in Italy's favour.

A really, really good tussle so far.

Unai Simon has looked decidedly shaky in the early stages of this game. His judgement is so poor there, he rushes out of his goal and the ball's played across. Nicolo Barella should take the shot on, Sergio Busquets works hard to get back and Simon sprints back towards his goal. Spain have got away with one there.

Chance for Italy as Emerson gets in behind César Azpilicueta, runs to the edge of the area and squares to Ciro Immobile. He can't see the gap so passes to Nicolò Barella, who also struggles for space and is quickly crowded out and Spain clear the danger.

Emerson is proving a real threat in these early stages. Good start by the Chelsea full-back.

Tactically Spain have started the better, the Italians are struggling to come to terms with what the Spanish are doing at the moment.

Blast of "Football's Coming Home" from a section of Wembley which is quickly drowned out by jeering from the Italy and Spain fans. Must be a few England supporters in.

Lovely move this, but unfortunately denied by the post and then the linesman's flag.

Josh Hammond: Morata would have buried that. Just saying.

CityFanSteveO: If Spain go a goal up I expect them to park the Busquets.

Sam: Pedri has played how we expected Foden to play.

Sergio Busquets pulls back Nicolò Barella as the Italian tried to get away and Italy have a free kick around 40 yards goal.

There's a sudden burst of "Football's Coming Home" - or is it "Football's Coming Rome" - in the stands at Wembley as Italy try to get their foot on the ball and end this spell of pressure from Spain.

They've got a problem at the moment Italy. Working out what to do with Busquets. Whether Barella comes from the right side to press him which he has done a couple of times or whether Jorginho comes out of his own position to get after him.

At the moment they are not quite sure and Busquets is getting on the ball a lot for the Spanish.

Lovely footwork by Ferran Torres as he pounces on a short pass by Nicolò Barella before shimmying past Jorginho but then drives his shot wide of the upright.

Spain are in a really good moment.

Sergio Busquets finds Pedri, who turns and then quickly plays the ball into the box for Mikel Oyarzabal, the Spain forward is in but his first touch is poor and the chance is gone.

Oyarzabal holds his head in frustration. He knew that was a golden opportunity!

Spain are moving the ball well - everything in front of that Italian back-line it was always going to be interesting to see who dominated possession wise. Spain have had the best possession statistics this tournament and their system is paying off but nothing clear cut yet.

Spain are once again keeping that possession counter high with 75% in the opening 10 minutes. They are in a good spell at the moment with Sergio Busquets pulling the strings.

What is really fascinating in the midfield is Jorginho and Busquets who both play the same position. How the Italians look after Busquets, who does that job and vice versa who looks after Jorginho because they both do the same job. They both dictate the tempo.

    Italy 0-0 Spain

Spain had something like more than 70% possession in at least three of their five previous games at Euro 2020 and they are on the ball at the moment. They patiently build before Koke works it wide to Mikel Oyarzabal but his ball into the box deflects out for a throw.

Its been a good press from Italy, nice and high just as we expect. High line, pressing the ball, taking a risk.
