One of the reasons Dani Olmo is getting a lot of joy is because he is coming into that hole Jorginho has vacated to go and mark Pedri. Normally Jorginho likes to sit in front of the back two but he is having towards the right on Pedri.

Spain work the ball from right to left and right again with Pedri and Jordi Alba both involved before Mikel Oyarzabal bends a first-time effort on the edge of area well over the bar.

He was aiming for the top corner but leaned back too much. Right idea, wrong execution.

Emerson is making the most of this opportunity in the first XI and has been one of Italy's biggest threat this half. He breaks forward quickly through the middle but holds the ball a bit too long and the opportunity is gone.

It's okay having all the possession, Spain have looked good they've passed it well. But they've had two chances and not hit the target.

Spain committing numbers forward in this first half and it has been giving Italy's defence a headache. Still goalless, though, and you have to wonder how long Spain can keep this up.

Good chance and good save. Will Spain rue their inability to take the couple of good opportunities they have had in this half?

Aymeric Laporte hooks the ball away under pressure from Ciro Immobile. That was cool under pressure because if Laporte missed his kick Immobile was in on goal.

What a moment this was for Italy. Great run by Emerson.

Alf Wilson: Spain will rue missing those couple of chances. Top scorers but also comfortably the worst finishers at this Euros. Enigmatic.

Kyle Utterson: Brilliant game this is. Spain have been superb so far. Fantastic performance so far and they should be in front. Credit to Italy for hanging on in their. Dani Olmo and Pedri have been a joy to watch superb from both of them.

Italy have to try and get Jorginho and Veratti on the ball more. Their technically gifted players in the midfield who can dictate play. They have not got them on the ball enough and have gone a little bit too long, too early at times.

Italy are in unfamiliar territory here. This is their longest wait for an attempt at goal so far at Euro 2020.

Giovanni Di Lorenzo knocks the ball over the top and for a moment Ciro Immobile looks in but Unai Simón is alert to the danger and sprints off his line to get to the ball first.

Sam: Both Spain and Italy have very high tempos of football, I just hope England can keep up with it,

Mace Windu: I'm not sure if England can beat either of these teams.

Phil Medcalf: I hate to say it but if England get through to the final, the pace that Spain or Italy will play at will be too much for a pedestrian England side if England try to match the opponents pace they will be tired and leggy by half.

Should have done better? What a chance this was for Spain.

Another poor kick by Gianluigi Donnarumma! His clearance is straight to Eric Garcia and Dani Olmo is quickly found just outside the Italy box but he can't get through the defence.

It's been a feature of their tournament - Spain have not taken their chances - they've had two big opportunities and they haven't taken them.

Oooh! Good strike Dani Olmo.

The chance comes from a poor kick by Gianluigi Donnarumma and the ball is quickly worked to Pedri, who cleverly finds Olmo inside the box and although his first-time effort is blocked he connects with the loose ball and his low drive is kept out by Donnarumma.
