Any contact and that would have been the opener.

Thinking pessimistically for a moment. If Denmark pull off another shock tonight, I can't think of a team I'd rather lose to and will definitely be cheering them on in the final.

    Sam, Warwick

England's challenge tonight is that Denmark will effectively have 12 men on the pitch as the play for Christian Eriksen. That extra spirit could be crucial and they will have to find someway to nullify it.

The feeling in the air is different I've never experienced this feeling before in any of the tournaments England have been in before. It's took me a while but I've decided, it's coming home!

Deafening noise around Wembley as the teams come out - but it's been like that for quite a while now. Amazing atmosphere in here.

So very excited for the match tonight - 4 generations of my family watching around the UK - the texts will be flying between us! hope Jack Grealish plays at some point - most of us are Villa fans, however, my husband is Tottenham so he'll be screaming at Harry Kane!!! Have a fantastic evening everyone!!!! Come on England.

    England v Denmark (20:00 BST)

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Denmark won't fear this they will relish it - they will think we're going to Wembley, can we beat England in their own back yard? That would probably be one of their greatest results apart from winning the final of the Euros. To come here, with the atmosphere like this, they will be right up for it.

It would be interesting to know how many were here at Euro 1996 - some who are here tonight wouldn't have even been born! It's a chance for these players to re-write history.

Tim Senna: I'm probably clinically insane but I'm honestly calm. This isn't the overhyped golden generation who secretly hated each other, this is the new young England side who are a massive group of talented mates & play without pressure. It's coming home

Jez Orbell: I’m trying to keep myself calm by watching an episode of Gardeners World with my wife - I still don’t think I’ve had such stress while watching someone put compost into a pot

  17. 'It's set up for England to go all the way to the final'published at 19:52 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    England v Denmark (20:00 BST)

    Ashley Young
Former England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

The way that Gareth had us calm and assured and ready for the semi-final in Russia. Everyone knew what we had to go and do and obviously it didn't go the way we had planned but the way Gareth gets the team set up is immense. I know tonight they are prepared in the same way, if not even better.

He's meticulous in his ways. Steve Holland is the same. It's not just the team, it's individuals. Everyone knew when you went on that pitch what you had to do as an individual and as a collective. Like I say it was a disappointment but this team tonight playing in front of our home fans is going to feel unbelievable. The fans have been incredible, we saw that when we were out in Russia but to see the pictures and everyone back home was incredible. To play in front of this crowd in this stadium is just set up for us to go all the way to the final. I know exactly how Southgate prepares and makes everyone come together as a team. The team bond there is unbelievable.

I remember being in the changing room playing a qualifier and there were 80,000 inside Wembley and when we were in the changing room and they started singing it just gets you going. It gets the juices flowing and it makes you know it's time for war.

You have to enjoy it because it's a once in a lifetime opportunity. Some of these players will never get to do this again. That's why playing at Wembley is so important because when the game is maybe going in Denmark's favour, it's the fans that get you back into it. It's just an absolutely incredible atmosphere here.
