    Italy v England (20:00 BST)

The BBC’s coverage of England’s win over Ukraine got a peak audience of 20.9m before the semi-final win over Denmark on ITV had an average audience of 23.86m and peak of 25.71m.

The Denmark game was the most watched non-news event since Croatia knocked England out of the 2018 World Cup.

Impressive, you might say, but what baffles me is that England has a population of about 56m so, what were the other 30m doing?

    Italy v England (20:00 BST)

    Izzy Christiansen
England and Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

England international Izzy Christiansen has been keeping herself busy painting but the nerves are kicking in.

"I've been painting my sister's wall white this weekend and wondering if I should go out and get some red paint and and do a big St George's cross on it for her.

"It's been a really nice distraction, I'm feeling good, feeing nervous.

"After a year of staying at home, it feels like the day is going to go so slowly but I'm really excited for what's going to happen tonight."

It's only fair that we hear from our Italy supporters, like James McGachie from Edinburgh who's flown to London this morning to watch the game with friends.

He's a dual national with two grandparents from Edinburgh and two from the small mountain village of Picinisco in Frosinone province, roughly half way between Roma and Naples.

His family heritage is in the ice cream trade says his grandfather’s brother-in-law invented the ‘99 cone!

He says: "I was delighted on Friday evening when the Italian football federation contacted Italian citizens in the UK and made tickets available for purchase.

"I bought four tickets for me, my English friend and two Scottish friends who will be at Wimbledon watching the Men’s Singles Final that has an Italian in the final! We’re hoping the match doesn’t go on for too long."

    Forza Azzurri!

  5. Grealish can be 'the man' for England - Erikssonpublished at 12:20 British Summer Time 11 July 2021

    Italy v England (20:00 BST)

Manchester City's Phil Foden is doubtful for tonight after missing training on Saturday, but former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson believes Gareth Southgate has plenty of options in attacking areas and has backed Jack Grealish to "make the difference".

"You have so many options: you have [Jadon] Sancho, Grealish and [Marcus] Rashford," Eriksson told Sky Sports News.

"It's just about choosing who is in the right shape and Southgate is very, very lucky as he has a lot of good footballers who are young and hungry, with pace and technique, on the bench.

"(Grealish) can make the difference. He's a great player and I like him very, very much. In one-on-ones he can open up the Italy defence for sure, so he can be the man.

"I think that England have a better bench than Italy. The teams are both very good but England's bench is much better."

  7. Former boss Eriksson backs England to beat Italypublished at 12:13 British Summer Time 11 July 2021

    Italy v England (20:00 BST)

Former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson - who led the Three Lions at Euro 2004 and two World Cups - doesn't think England will be criticised if they lose tonight.

"I think England - whatever happens tonight, I think they will win - have done a great, great tournament," he told Sky Sports News.

"They have played very good football in most of the games, very solid and defending very well, and they have a lot of young players for the future.

"I think they will win but I don't think they will be criticised negatively whatever happens. Of course they have a lot to lose but they should go out and enjoy the match, doing what they normally do."

"No doubt about that [both teams deserve their place in the final] - yes. Italy have in many games played very good football, attacking football, with a lot of good players. "They are the two best teams in the tournament, so it's fair as it is."

Phil says: “We have been lucky because my friend Tom and I got tickets from the ballot.

"My other friend Richard managed to get three tickets for the final so we are going together and have offered out the other two tickets.

"We have category three tickets so we will be in the higher tiers but at least we will be in Wembley for the atmosphere.

"My friend’s Tom’s dad actually went to the World Cup Final in ’66!

"We are all superstitious and we’ll be wearing the same clothes we wore during England’s earlier games."

    Thanks Steve.

I know it's just over eight hours until England play Italy in THE EURO 2020 FINAL but I've just had to ask the internet how to stay calm.

Among the bits of advice, it's telling me to take deep breaths, focus on the positives, get some sleep (if only), surround myself with positive people ("kids, come here") or visualise calm (yeah, like that's easy).

Anyway, try one or all of them if you need.

He says: “I’m pretty excited, like a kid at Christmas and I’m ready to go.

“I’m feeling confident. You’ve got to be confident with a home crowd at Wembley. I think will win 1-0 either in normal time or extra time.”

  19. England success transcends football - Bullinghampublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 11 July 2021

    Italy v England (20:00 BST)

    The Andrew Marr Show

Were England to win this evening, it would be the national team's biggest achievement since 1966, but FA chief executive Mark Bullingham believes the success of Gareth Southgate's side has transcended football.

He says the Three Lions have managed to bring the country together after a "difficult 15 months".

"I think they are a fantastic group of people who we are very proud of. What they have done on the pitch has been fantastic but I think it goes beyond that.

"I think there are some individuals who have driven social change and who have been incredibly supportive of charities and, as I said, we are proud to have them as our team.

"I do believe that he (Southgate) and the team have really bought the country and communities together after what has been an incredibly difficult 15 months for everyone."
